20090254293 | Rendering of Subsurface Scattering Effects in Translucent Objects - Embodiments are directed to modifying an existing scheme for providing translucent illumination in order to take account of subsurface scattering. The color of a selected point of a translucent object can be determined using existing methods. The existing methods need not take subsurface scattering into account. Then, a contribution to the color at the selected point due to subsurface scattering may be calculated. The contribution due to subsurface scattering may be calculated based on a photon map. Embodiments of the invention also include the use of different types of photon maps. In some embodiments, a standard photon map may be used. In other embodiments, a photon map may be defined in a manner similar to a depth map. Thus, the entries of a photon map may be defined in terms of an angle from a light source and a distance between an object's surface and a light source. | 10-08-2009 |

20090132363 | PROCESS ENABLEMENT AND OPTIMIZATION SYSTEM FOR WEB ADVERTISING PLACEMENT AND PRICING - The present invention provides an enablement and optimization system and method for web advertisement placement and pricing. The invention provides an open advertising network that incorporates both the advertisers and content publishers into the advertising decision process to create an open marketplace. Similar to a greedy algorithm in Computer Science, this model pushes the final advertising decision to the web servers that serve the actual content. Rather than an advertising network providing a single ad to show, the content publisher receives a selection of ads. Each publisher in the network then makes the local optimum choice by collecting data on the effectiveness of ads previously shown, and using this data to select which ad will perform the best. Similarly, the advertisers collect data on the visitors they receive from advertising, and use this information to optimize their bidding. With each endpoint selecting a local optimum, the network of advertisers and content publishers as a whole becomes more effective. | 05-21-2009 |

20090030515 | ALL-BARRIER ELASTOMERIC GEL-FILLED BREAST PROSTHESIS - An elastomeric gel-filled prosthetic implant having a shell made of a single gel barrier layer. The barrier layer is formed of a homogeneous silicone elastomer capable of sterically retarding permeation of the silicone gel through the shell and having a bleed rate that is less than about 40% of the bleed rate of current shells which use a sandwiched construction with an internal barrier layer. Further, the barrier layer shell is made of a material that exhibits a wet strength that is comparable to or greater than current shells. The silicone elastomer may be a polydimethyl siloxane, and the substituted chemical group is a diphenyl group with a minimum mole percent of at least 13%. The implant may be designed for breast reconstruction or augmentation such that the shell is accordingly shaped. The shell wall thickness is at least 0.254 mm (0.010 inches), and desirably about 0.456 mm (0.018 inches). The implant shell may be made by dip-forming, spray-forming, or rotational molding. The exterior may be smooth or textured. | 01-29-2009 |

20130041462 | FILLABLE PROSTHETIC IMPLANT WITH GEL-LIKE PROPERTIES - A fluid-filled prosthetic implant having the properties of a gel-filled implant. The prosthetic implant includes a soft flexible shell defining an inner chamber and having a predetermined volume when the shell is filled or inflated. A quantity of dry nanoparticles is introduced into the inner chamber during manufacture. A surgeon inserts the flexible implant shell into a body cavity, and then utilizes a syringe or other means to deliver a fluid to the inner chamber of the shell. The fluid mixes with the quantity of dry nanoparticles to form a gel, for example, a hydrogel. The hydrated nanoparticles provide to the implant the desirable properties of a gel-filled implant. In this way, the incision used can be smaller than that for a filled implant, but the resulting prosthesis is more natural than a typical saline-filled implant. | 02-14-2013 |

20120117105 | Collaborative Database Operations - Methods, program products, and systems implementing collaborative database operations are disclosed. Collaborative database operations can be facilitated by data notification, where a server notifies a client when data being viewed at the client are updated. Notification can be achieved through registration and polling. A client of a database can request data from a server. The request can include a data request and a registration request. The data request can include a query into a database. The registration request can include a specification on conditions upon which the client is to be notified. The condition can include an event type. Upon registration, the client can poll the server periodically to determine whether a result of the query has changed, and if so, what data record in the result has changed. If a data record has changed, the client can request the changed data using an identifier of the data record. | 05-10-2012 |
20120117121 | Browser-Based Database Manipulation - Methods, program products, and systems implementing browser-based database manipulation are described.
