20130332326 | BLIND ETF WITH SMALL LOT REDEMPTION TRIGGER - To protect individual investors in a blind Exchange Traded Fund (ETF) from being disadvantaged compared to the Authorized participants (APs), a mechanism is provided to enable small lot redemptions at the ETF's Net Asset Value (NAV) price under certain conditions. The market price and NAV price for the ETF are monitored and if one or more threshold conditions are detected, a trigger event is determined to have occurred. When a trigger event occurs, individual investors are notified of an option to redeem small lots of ETF shares. If the option is exercised, the individual investors are paid for shares redeemed at the NAV price rather than the market price. | 12-12-2013 |

20100216120 | Rapid infectious virus assay - An assay to detect or quantify HIV infectious virus from clinically relevant cellular compartments, or reservoirs, in anti-retrovirally treated patients whose viral levels are low to undetectable is described. The method detects infectious virus in patients whose plasma viral loads are considered to be below the limit of current PCR based detection methods and thereby is more relevant for guiding treatment. A further advantage is that the method allows viral tropism to be directly determined in the presence of specific inhibitors of CCR5 or CXCR4. Drug sensitivity can also be directly determined without the need to laboriously recover patient virus by culture for extended time periods, a method that allows for viral selection or evolution, which is not desirable. Patient cells, like the blood mononuclear cells, or monocytes, are isolated and cultured in the presence of cytokines like CSF-1/M-CSF or GM-CSF. to promote their differentiation. Cells are activated with lectins, mitogenic antibodies, phorbol esters, Toll Receptor stimulation or inducers of NfKb or NFAT, followed by agents that induce viral release, like ATP or stimulation of autophagy with LiCl, spermidine, or rapamycin. A key aspect of the invention relates to the timing of the addition of these agents for optimal viral release. A further aspect of the invention relates to sensitive detection of released virus which can be accomplished by adding so-called reporter cells which are under control of the HIV TAT protein so that upon infection these cells synthesize proteins or enzymes that allow for the measurement of infectious particles. | 08-26-2010 |

20140340577 | COMPETITIVE PHOTO RIG - A specialized multi-smartphone rig is configured to simultaneously hold and operate multiple camera-equipped smartphones to enable capture of the same image by each camera under identical conditions using a single shutter release button on the rig. Because smartphones typically vary in how much time they use to process user input, custom native applications (“apps”) are installed on each smartphone to enable the cameras to operate in a synchronized manner. When the button is actuated, a signal is received at a microcontroller which hosts a server. The shutter release signal is passed to the server which, in turn, sends individual control signals to the custom native apps according to a timing model. When the custom native apps receive their respective control signals, they trigger their respective smartphone cameras to operate so that all the photos are captured in parallel across the rig at the same time. | 11-20-2014 |

20080276439 | Methods and apparatus for application of nested zero waste ear to traveling web - The present invention provides a process wherein a rotary knife or die, with one or more cutting edges, turns against and in coordination with a corresponding cylinder to create preferably trapezoidal ears. Ear material is slit into two lanes, one for a left side of a diaper and the other for a right side of a diaper. Fastening tapes are applied to both the right and the left ear webs. The ear material is then die cut with a nested pattern on a synchronized vacuum anvil. The resulting discrete ear pieces however, due to the trapezoidal pattern of the ears, alternate between a correct orientation and an incorrect (reversed) orientation. The reversed ear is required to be rotated 180° into the correct orientation such that the ears and associated tape present a left ear and a right ear on the diaper. | 11-13-2008 |

20140076591 | Multipiece Cutting Edge Attachment for Spring Tines of a Harrow - A multi-piece cutting edge attachment for a circular shaft of a harrow tine features a mounting member formed of a material that is weldable to, and distinct from, a first material of the harrow tine. A cutting edge member is formed of a third material that is harder than the first and second materials and less weldable to harrow tine than the second material of the mounting member. The cutting edge member has a front face and an opposing rear face that is conformingly shaped for placement against a front face of the mounting member at a lower end thereof. The multi-piece arrangement forms a cutting edge of greater hardness than that which is achievable by a material directly attachable to the tine itself. | 03-20-2014 |

The tool body has an opening recessed thereinto from an exposed exterior surface fully surrounding the opening on all sides thereof, and the insert is attached to the body in a position at least partially received within the opening, for example by brazing. The increases the wear life of the body and provides greater mounting strength over surface-mounted wear inserts of the prior art. | 03-27-2014 |
20140144654 | Furrow Opener with Replaceable Tip and Accompanying Replaceable Piece - A furrow opener features an opener body including a shank mount and upper and lower interface portions at a forward side of the opener body. A replaceable tip body has a furrowing portion for opening a furrow in the ground, a top interface portion at its rear for mating with the upper interface portion of the opener body and a rear accommodating portion defining an accommodating space between the opener body and the tip body when the top interface portion is mated to the opener body. An intermediate body has a mounting portion arranged to interface with the rear accommodating portion of the tip body and the lower interface portion of the opener body to fit in the accommodating space defined therebetween. The tip and intermediate bodies are separately replaceable, thereby accounting for different rates of wear at different areas of the opener. | 05-29-2014 |

20100084984 | Energy-Saving LED-Based Lighting Device - This invention describes a lighting device with low energy consumption, which is made up of light emitting diodes known by the English acronym of LEDs, that use the technique known as “scanning”; with the purpose of reducing the consumption of energy required for lighting. Said scanning is performed by an efficient circuit that determines the sequence and time required for the activation of each LED or group of LEDs. The invention does not limit itself to only using LEDs, other types of elements for control may be used that may be sequenced without altering its operation or useful life. In this case, the speed that may support the LEDs is taken advantage of and that is higher than can be seen by the human eye, where each LED or group of LEDs are turned on and off at a frequency that is imperceptible by the human eye. | 04-08-2010 |
