20090254515 | SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PRESENTING GALLERY RENDITIONS THAT ARE IDENTIFIED FROM A NETWORK - A presentation system provided for use on a network. The presentation system includes an index and one or more modules. The index that stores gallery information, the gallery including (i) information that identifies a plurality of galleries, and (ii) data corresponding to renditions of individual media objects that comprise at least a portion of each of the plurality of galleries. The one or more modules may be configured to (i) receive a selection criteria, (ii) use the selection criteria to identify, from the index, one or more galleries from the index, and (iii) generate a presentation that includes renditions of at least some of the plurality of media objects that comprise the identified one or more galleries. | 10-08-2009 |
20090254643 | SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR IDENTIFYING GALLERIES OF MEDIA OBJECTS ON A NETWORK - Collections of media objects may be aggregated from network resources available over a network. An embodiment provides that a network resource is accessed at each of a plurality of network locations. The network resource is analyzed at each network location to determine whether the network resource includes, or provides access to, any or all media objects in a set of multiple media objects that collectively satisfy one or more editorial criteria for being deemed a gallery, as presented at the network location or network locations where the multiple media objects are provided. The information about the set of media objects may be stored. | 10-08-2009 |
20110106784 | SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PUBLISHING MEDIA OBJECTS - According to one or more embodiments, media objects are published on publisher resources. In one embodiment, a web resource is provided on a network having a first domain or location. Responsive to a terminal accessing the first location to render the web resource, a search parameter is signaled to a search engine that operates at a second location or domain on the network. A search response is received that includes media object data. The media object data identifies one or more galleries of media objects. The media object data may be used include at least a portion of a gallery of media objects as part of the web resource that is rendered for the terminal. | 05-05-2011 |

20130297300 | Automatic determination of stability and validity of Speech Transmission Index measurements - The Speech Transmission Index (STI) uses the modulation transfer function to characterize speech communication channels with a single index. This index accurately predicts speech intelligibility. In order to measure the STI, a device or software is needed that utilizes an artificial test signal to estimate the modulation transfer function, and to derive the STI from that function. In practice, many STI measurements are found to be invalid and inaccurate, for two reasons: (1) the measurements are carried out in test conditions for which by design the STI is not intended; (2) equipment is used that does not meet specifications and requirements. A procedure is described to automatically verify if conditions for obtaining valid STI results are met. If possible, corrections are applied to compensate for incorrect settings and poorly adjusted measuring equipment. If automatic correction of the problem is not possible, then a warning is generated. | 11-07-2013 |
20140119549 | Monitoring microphone transmission quality by analyzing signals from an embedded sounder - A system and method is described for monitoring the recording quality of a microphone. Some microphones, mostly in fixed installations, already feature a (piezo) sounder built into the microphone housing which is used to assess whether the microphone is functioning properly. At random or fixed intervals, the sounder produces a known signal; the microphone signal is then measured to determine if the microphone is working The disclosed invention comes down to extension of this principle by not only testing if the signal is reproduced at the correct level, but also using the sounder to measure the transmission quality of the microphone. The sounder produces a signal designed for this purpose. Upon playback of this test signal, the microphone signal is analysed to determine the overall transmission quality of the microphone, and evaluate the influence of factors that degrade quality, such as noise, bandwidth limiting, dynamic range and reverberation. | 05-01-2014 |
20150012265 | Enhanced Speech Transmission Index measurements through combination of indirect and direct MTF estimation - The Speech Transmission Index (STI) is an objective measure that predicts speech intelligibility. Test signals are played back through a channel under test. An STI analyzer at the channel output calculates an index between 0 and 1, indicating intelligibility. Over the years, various test signals have been used for measuring the STI, all based on the same principles but differing in the modulation frequencies tested and octave bands covered by the signal. The invention disclosed is a new method for constructing test signals: not just the transfer of modulations on a carrier signal is analyzed, but also the carrier signal itself This apprach leads to more accurate STI measurements that correspond more closely to the ideal (theoretical) STI and to subjective speech intelligibility. Shorter measuring times are achieved without compromising the accuracy of the measurement, while extending the range of systems to which the STI can be reliable applied. | 01-08-2015 |
