20150018230 | PLASMA miRNA SIGNATURE FOR THE ACCURATE DIAGNOSIS OF PANCREATIC DUCTAL ADENOCARCINOMA - The differential expression of select miRNA in plasma and bile among patients with PDAC, chronic pancreatitis (CP), and controls were measured. Patients (n=215) with treatment-naïve PDAC (n=77), CP with bile or pancreatic duct pathology (n=67), and controls (n=71) that had been prospectively enrolled in a Pancreatobiliary Disease Biorepository at the time of endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) or endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) were identified. Controls were patients with choledocholithiasis but normal pancreata. The sample was separated into training (n=95) and validation (n=120) cohorts to establish and then test the performance of PDAC Signature Panels in diagnosing PDAC. The training cohort (n=95) included age-matched patients with CP and controls. Panels were derived from the differential expression of 10-candidate miRNA in plasma or bile. Differential expression of miR-10b, -155, and -106b in plasma and bile accurately distinguishes individuals with PDAC from those having CP or normal pancreata. | 01-15-2015 |

The invention provides methods and systems that remove unwanted segments of nucleic acid in a sample so that a target gene or region of interest may be analyzed without interference from the unwanted segments. A sample is obtained that includes single-stranded nucleic acid with one or more unwanted segments. Complementary nucleic acid is added to the single-stranded nucleic acid to create a double-stranded region that includes the unwanted segment. The double-stranded region is then digested, leaving single-stranded nucleic acid that includes the target gene or region of interest. 20140257549 | Methods and Apparatus for Photosculpture - A 3D object (the “New Object”) is fabricated layer by layer by 3D printing. The shape and relative dimensions of the various parts of the New Object match that of another 3D object (the “Target Object”). The “photographic” likeness is created by variations in visual characteristics of materials in the layers comprising the New Object, and in particular by variations at or near the surface of the New Object. Thus, the photographic likeness is an integral part of these layers comprising the New Object. An object is scanned, from which a texture map is obtained. A CAD model is sliced into slices (bit maps files) which are then colored by a program with the boundary to match the color or gray scale to color the appropriate pixels, derived from the texture map. | 09-11-2014 |

20110108773 | Compositions for Depositions and Processing of Films for Electronic Applications - Methods and systems disclosed herein involve conversion of precursors to electronic films with many properties such as conductor, resistor, semiconductor, photovoltaic, insulator and optical conversion films. There are a large number of materials such as transition metal oxides, metals, combination oxides that may be deposited as organic precursors and subsequently processed by radiated energy. In practice of the systems and methods disclosed herein, the films are processed by a “matched” radiation to either intrinsic absorption of the film precursors, or due to an added absorber to the film precursors. Since many of the precursors have been previously described as “Metal-Organic” precursors, the process can be described as “Metal-Organic Deposition by Enhanced Light-Absorption” (MODEL-A). | 05-12-2011 |
20110111134 | Systems and Methods of Preparation of Photovoltaic Films and Devices - Described herein are systems and methods for deposition of films using energy dispensers combined with film-material dispensers. The processes achieve high energy efficiency and speed by deposition of film materials that absorb energy in a designed radiation band, coupled with delivery of energy using a radiation source with a band matched to the absorbance band of the film deposition material. It is possible to use the energy for drying, fusion, chemical conversion, sintering of the deposited materials to produce films for visual, graphic or electronic applications. The process does not cause significant heating of substrates. The energy can be delivered to specified material deposition locations, thus using substantially less energy than bulk heating. | 05-12-2011 |
20110111336 | Compositions and Methods for High Efficiency Absorption of Radiation, and Films Formed Thereof - An absorber with significant absorbance matching the processing radiation is included in the compositions for efficient capture of energy. Embodiments of the present disclosure can also be viewed as providing compositions that have a functional film precursor such as an ink that might include, a colorant, toner, polymer, dye, pigment, or a reactive component such as polymer precursors, and an absorber that is capable of absorbing radiation wavelength that is “matched” to the waveband of the processing radiation. | 05-12-2011 |

20150181682 | BYPASS CIRCUIT FOR NEUTRAL-LESS CONTROLLER IN LIGHTING CONTROL SYSTEM - A device provides a bypass path for leakage current of a neutral-less controller in a lighting control system for selectively supplying line voltage to a load. The device includes a dummy load, a voltage sensor, a bypass switch, a switch controller and a delay timer. The voltage sensor senses line voltage at an output of the neutral-less controller. The bypass switch selectively connects the dummy load in parallel with the lighting load. The switch controller activates the bypass switch to connect the dummy load in parallel with the lighting load when the line voltage is low, providing a bypass path for the leakage current, and deactivates the bypass switch after a delay period to disconnect the dummy load from being in parallel with the lighting load when the line voltage is high. The delay timer implements the delay period in response to the line voltage transitioning from low to high. | 06-25-2015 |
