20110012022 | Direct Conversion X-Ray Imaging Device With Strip Electrodes - A flat panel X-ray imager using an amorphous selenium detector which uses a dielectric layer within the X-ray conversion layer to form an interface between the X-ray conversion layer and the high voltage bias electrode. To accomplish the removal of trapped counter charges at the dielectric/selenium layer, a plurality of discrete or strip electrodes are provided in contact with the dielectric layer and which are electrically coupled into distinct groups. During X-ray exposure, a high bias voltage is applied to all groups of strip electrodes. Following X-ray exposure and image readout, the groups of strip electrodes are energized using a plurality of differently-phased energization signals to drive trapped counter charges toward “gutter” strip electrodes at the sides of the detector. A second embodiment of the flat panel X-ray imager includes sandwiching the discrete electrodes in a dielectric layer applied against the selenium layer and including a continuous electrode on the opposite side of the dielectric layer. Application of a high voltage bias to the continuous electrode results in an electric field in the selenium layer that is smoothed during X-ray acquisition. Discrete electrode energization to drive trapped counter charges to the gutter electrodes occurs while the high voltage bias is present. | 01-20-2011 |

20110208113 | Directed Cell-Based Therapy Using Microbubble Tagged Cells - The disclosed technology describes compositions and methods useful for providing cell based therapy. For example, one embodiment of cell based therapy involves the regeneration of injured tissue and/or promoting wound healing. Certain embodiments provide improved therapeutic compositions using microbubbles by delivering biological progenitor cells to the injured tissues. The administration of the microbubbles is directed by acoustic radiation forces that interact with embodiments of microbubbles comprising an acoustically active gas. As such, a high efficiency of progenitor cell delivery to injured tissue is realized. One advantage of this technique over targeted delivery of pharmaceutical compounds, is that the delivered progenitors cells may be derived from the patient (i.e., personalized therapy), thereby avoiding side effects, allergic reactions, and overall problems associated with refractive drug responses. | 08-25-2011 |

20090012061 | A Method of Treating Cancer - The present invention relates to a method of treating cellular proliferative diseases, in particular cancer, which comprises administering a modulator of the activity of the mitotic kinesin KSP, wherein the activity of the KSP modulator is dependent on the presence of microtubules. It is believed that the KSP modulators utilized in the instant method bind to the KSP protein in a previously unreported manner, since the compounds do not bind competitively with respect to either microtubules or ATP, the substrates of KSP. The modulators useful in the instant methods are furthermore not active against the non-microtubule stimulated activity of KSP. Cellular proliferative diseases that may be treated using the method disclosed herein are, for example cancer, hyperplasias, restenosis, cardiac hypertrophy, immune disorders and inflammation. | 01-08-2009 |

20120153143 | ELECTROSPRAY AND NANOSPRAY IONIZATION OF DISCRETE SAMPLES IN DROPLET FORMAT - Droplets or plugs within multiphase microfluidic systems have rapidly gained interest as a way to manipulate samples and chemical reactions on the femtoliter to microliter scale. Chemical analysis of the plugs remains a challenge. It has been discovered that nanoliter plugs of sample separated by air or oil can be analyzed by electrospray ionization mass spectrometry when pumped directly into a fused silica nanospray emitter nozzle. Using leu-enkephalin in methanol and 1% acetic acid in water (50:50 v:v) as a model sample, we found carry-over between plugs was <0.1% and relative standard deviation of signal for a series of plugs was 3%. Detection limits were 1 nM. Sample analysis rates of 0.8 Hz were achieved by pumping 13 nL samples separated by 3 mm long air gaps in a 75 μm inner diameter tube. Analysis rates were limited by the scan time of the ion trap mass spectrometer. The system provides a robust, rapid, and information-rich method for chemical analysis of sample in segmented flow systems. | 06-21-2012 |

20100068308 | Regulation of GSK-3alpha activity for the treatment or prevention of Alzheimer's disease - Provided is a novel use of therapeutic concentrations of an inhibitor of glycogen synthase kinase-3 (GSK-3), including lithium or any other GSK-3 inhibitor, to block, reduce or inhibit processing of amyloid precursor proteins to beta-amyloid (Aβ) peptides, which are now believed to be the principal cause of Alzheimer's disease, thereby providing methods useful for the prevention, inhibition or reversal of the disease. Also provided are methods of using agents that specifically target the α isoform of GSK-3, which is responsible for APP processing, making such selective GSK-3α-specific inhibitors especially useful in the treatment, prevention, and possible reversal of Alzheimer's disease. Further provided are kits and screening methods associated with the present methods. | 03-18-2010 |
20130184441 | Detection of Neurodegenerative Disease - Provided are methods of assessing the absence or presence of a neurodegenerative disease in a subject comprising characterizing TDP-43 in a tissue sample of the subject. Also disclosed are methods for diagnosing a neurodegenerative disease in a subject, and methods for determining the efficacy of a drug against a neurodegenerative disease. Novel antibodies that bind to TDP-43 are also provided. | 07-18-2013 |

20120230186 | Network Congestion Analysis - A network monitoring and network congestion analysis can be performed based on a comparison of data packets at multiple different network nodes installed at different locations on a communication path. A downstream network node may be installed at a user location while an upstream network may be installed at an access router further up the network. A network congestion analyzer may receive data packet information including timestamps from both network nodes, and may compare the data packet information to group the data packets into application flows and match the corresponding packets from the different network nodes. Based on the data packet matching, the network congestion analyzer may calculate packet loss, packet delay, packet delay variation, and perform other network congestion analysis techniques for the application flows corresponding to a user's various devices and the applications executing on those devices. | 09-13-2012 |

20120226770 | Delivery of Content - Systems and methods are provided for a pull model for delivery of data such as content metadata among interconnected content delivery networks (CDNi), allowing for accurate metadata information in appropriate edge servers in a large CDNi system. When a request for an asset in a CDN (CDN A) is to be served by another, interconnected CDN (CDN B), a link to the location where the metadata is stored within CDN A can be provided along with the request for CDN B to serve the content to the user. The link can be passed to the appropriate edge device in CDN B, which can retrieve the metadata to set up and support the content session. The encrypted information can also be passed recursively by CDN B to other CDNs with which it is interconnected. | 09-06-2012 |
20130188482 | ADAPTIVE BUFFER CONTROL - A method, device, computer readable medium, and system are disclosed that in one aspect may calculate a data rate and a latency of a packet flowing through a buffer, compare the data rate to a provisioned data rate, compare the latency to a threshold, and adapt a size of the buffer in response to results of the comparisons. | 07-25-2013 |
20130188641 | ADDRESS TRANSLATION - An apparatus, method, system and computer-readable medium are provided for converting traffic of a first communication type to traffic of one or more additional communication types. In some embodiments, the communication types may comprise IP communications, such as IPv4 and IPv6 communications. In some embodiments, multicast communications may be supported. For example, one or more tunnels or channels may be established to support transmitting data, such as content, to one or more destination addresses. In some embodiments, a destination address may be associated with a user device. One or more messages may comprise an address that may be extracted by a device, such as a router, to determine a destination. The one or more messages may comprise a request for service or a request to join a service group. | 07-25-2013 |
