20080302887 | Fuel Injector Having Directly Actuatable Injection Valve Element - A fuel injector for an internal combustion engine is proposed having a directly actuatable injection valve element. The fuel injector has a nozzle needle, axially guided in a nozzle body, and an actuator accommodated in an injector housing. The nozzle needle is connected to a coupling piston on the nozzle-needle side and the actuator is connected to a coupling piston on the actuator side. The coupling piston on the actuator side acts on a coupling chamber and the coupling piston on the nozzle-needle side acts on a control chamber. The nozzle needle is lifted from a nozzle-needle sealing seat as a function of the pressure in the control space. An intermediate plate is provided between injector housing and nozzle body. The plate has a conduit hydraulically connecting the coupling chamber to the control chamber. The conduit contains a hydraulic throttle which has at least two sections having different cross sections of flow. The section having the smaller cross section of flow faces the coupling chamber and the section having the larger cross section of flow faces the control chamber. The throttle disclosed suppresses oscillations of the actuator in the transmission of the actuator stroke to the nozzle needle stroke. | 12-11-2008 |

20100319660 | Fuel Injector Having An Additional Outlet Restrictor Or Having An Improved Arrangement Of Same In The Control Valve - The present invention relates to a fuel injector for injecting fuel into a combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine, having a valve piston that is displaceably guided in an injector body in terms of lifting motions, whereby the lifting motion of the valve piston can be controlled by a control valve. The control valve has a valve needle with a guide bore, so that the needle is displaceably guided in the direction of a lifting axis in terms of lifting motions. A guide section integrally formed on an end of a valve piece extends into the guide bore for the displaceable guidance of the valve needle in terms of lifting motions. Along the lifting axis a vertical bore extends through the valve piece into the guide section, such that fuel is able to flow through the bore from a control chamber into an annular chamber introduced between the guide bore and the guide section for controlling the lifting motion of the valve piston. The fuel volume conducted through the vertical bore furthermore flows through at least one outlet restrictor, which is disposed in the region of the transition from the vertical bore into the annular chamber. | 12-23-2010 |

20110042594 | METHOD FOR BOUNCE SUPPRESSION OF A VALVE SWITCHED BY A PIEZO ACTUATOR - A method for bounce suppression of a valve member operated by a piezo actuator during the closing phase of a valve in an internal combustion engine, having the following steps: partial discharging of the piezo actuator, whereby the valve member is braked even before reaching the valve seat, interruption of the discharge of the piezo actuator, whereby the piezo actuator is upset by the valve member and builds up an electric charge, renewed discharging of the piezo actuator, the residual charge after partial discharge and the charge built up during the charge interruption being at least partially dissipated. It is provided, according to the present invention, briefly to interrupt the discharge process, whereby the piezo actuator absorbs the energy of the valve member and, even before an elastic rebound takes place, the piezo actuator is discharged again, in order to dissipate the energy absorbed by the piezo actuator. | 02-24-2011 |
20120103379 | THERMOELECTRIC GENERATOR INCLUDING A THERMOELECTRIC MODULE HAVING A MEANDERING P-N SYSTEM - A thermoelectric module having a plurality of p-n-couples, every two adjacent p-n-legs forming one p-n-couple. The p-n-legs are each manufactured from conductive materials. The p-n-legs of the plurality of p-n-couples are separated in an alternating sequence by an electrically insulating gap which creates a meandering current flow. | 05-03-2012 |
