20110027435 | CUPCAKE MOLD AND METHOD FOR MAKING CUPCAKE POPS - A cupcake mold includes two mold forms connected by a hinge and separable by a flange on an end opposite the hinge. Each mold form has a series of flutes extending in one direction and a top having a defined shape, such as a series of rings or a snail-shell shape, extending generally perpendicularly to the flutes. A method for making a dough-based edible treat includes the steps of filling an interior of a mold with a volume of dough, closing the mold to shape the dough, reopening the mold to expose the shaped dough, and removing the shaped dough from the mold. A further method adds the steps of extending a portion of a stick into the shaped dough to provide a handle for the edible treat, and, optionally, dipping at least a portion of the shaped dough into a liquid while the holding the stick. | 02-03-2011 |

20080277318 | SEPARATION AND RECOVERY OF BITUMEN OIL FROM TAR SANDS - A process for the separation of bitumen oil from tar sands and the like. Slurry is supplied to a mixing chamber of a jet pump at an input end of the process. The slurry is agitated within the jet pump to effect a partial to full phase separation of the oil fraction from the solids fraction of the slurry. The partially to fully separated slurry is discharged into a pipeline and later into a hydrocyclone to effect a second phase separation of the slurry. One or more hydrocyclone separators may be used to separate the bitumen oil and liquid from the solids fraction. | 11-13-2008 |
20090020458 | RECOVERY OF TAILINGS PONDS - A method of treating tailings comprising a solids fraction and a hydrocarbon fraction is disclosed. A primary flow is supplied to a jet pump, the primary flow comprising water and less than 20% solids by mass. A secondary flow is supplied to a mixing chamber of the jet pump, the secondary flow comprising a slurry of water and tailings, the slurry comprising more solids by mass than the primary flow. The jet pump is operated using the primary flow such that the tailings are agitated to effect at least a partial phase separation of the hydrocarbon fraction from the tailings. The methods disclosed herein may also be applied to treat tailings ponds. | 01-22-2009 |
20100021979 | Apparatus and Process for Production of Biogas - A process and an apparatus for the manufacture of biogas and a solids fraction from an organic waste feedstock is provided. The process involves thermal hydrolysis of the organic waste feedstock at a temperature from about 100 to about 220° C., a pressure from about 5 to about 20 bars, for a period of time from about 15 minutes to 4 hours, to produce a hydrolysate. The hydrolysate undergoes anaerobic digestion at a temperature from about 25 to 60° C., for a period of time from about 1 to 35 days to produce a biogas stream and a digestate. The digestate is separated into a solids fraction and a liquid fraction, and a portion of the solids fraction is recycled for further anaerobic digestion. The biogas stream, characterized as having a methane content from between 55 to 80% by volume, and the solids fraction, are recovered. The apparatus includes a receiving bin for receiving and supplying organic waste feedstock to a thermal hydrolysis reactor. The thermal hydrolysis reactor for processing the organic waste feedstock at a temperature from about 100 to about 220° C., a pressure from about 5 to about 20 bars, for a period of time from about 15 minutes to 4 hours to produce a hydrolysate. An anaerobic digester for processing the hydrolysate at a temperature from about 25 to 60° C., for a period of time from about 1 to 35 days to produce the biogas and a digestate, and a solids thickening tank for separating the digestate into the solid fraction, a liquid fraction and a secondary biogas fraction. | 01-28-2010 |
