20080306081 | Combinations of Nicotinic Acetylcholine Alpha 7 Receptor Antagonists - Combinations which comprise at least one nicotinic acetylcholine alpha 7 receptor agonist and at least one compound selected from the group consisting of (a) conventional antipsychotics (b) atypical antipsychotics (c) cognition, attention and/or memory enhancers (d) and to use of these combinations in the treatment of psychiatric disorders. | 12-11-2008 |
20100035251 | BioMarkers for the Progression of Alzheimer's Disease - The genetic polymorphism LRRK2 (leucine-rich repeat kinase 2)-T1602S is significantly associated with conversion from mild cognitive impairment (MCI) to Alzheimer's disease (AD), with the patients with TT genotype being at greater risk to progress to Alzheimer's disease. The LRRK2-T2352 also showed a trend for conversion to Alzheimer's disease, with the patients with CC genotype tending to progress to Alzheimer's disease. Similar to the APOE-E4 allele, in the presence of a BuChE-K variant, LRRK2-T1602S and LRRK2-T2352 showed a greater association with the rate of conversion from mild cognitive impairment to Alzheimer's disease. In another study with placebo-treated Alzheimer's disease patients, LRRK2-T1602S and LRRK2-T2352 showed a same trend of association. The Alzheimer's disease patients with TT genotype of LRRK2-T1602S or CC genotype of LRRK2-T2352 tended to decline faster on cognitive performance over 6 months, especially in the presence of a BuChE-K variant. The association between the two common LRRK2 polymorphisms and Alzheimer's disease progression shows that LRRK2 may play a role in Alzheimer's disease pathogenesis, especially disease progression, and that polymorphisms of LRRK2 can be used as biomrkers of this progression. | 02-11-2010 |

20150120967 | Communication Device Ingress Information Management System and Method - The components of communication network device ingress systems and methods cooperate to manage information ingress and prevent denial of service attempts. A classifier classifies incoming information. A classification filter filters the information on a classification basis to prevent denial of service. The classification filter includes a classification filter counter for tracking the flow of information associated with the classification filter. A zero value in the classification filter counter indicates that a buffer capacity limit associated with the classification is reached. The counter permits information to flow to a packet buffer if the classification filter counter value is not zero and discards information if the classification filter counter value is zero. In one exemplary implementation the classification filter counter decrements a classification filter counter value when the information is placed in the buffer. The classification filter counter value is incremented when the information is processed out of the buffer. | 04-30-2015 |

20110027165 | Distributed pre-enrichment method and apparatus for production of heavy water - The present invention provides a process whereby pre-enrichment of water streams using a hydrogen source and a catalytic isotope exchange method at one or more remote sites to supply water with augmented deuterium concentration to a central heavy water. This central heavy water plant could be a Combined Electrolysis and Catalytic Exchange (“CECE”) heavy water production plant or a Girdler Sulfide heavy water plant. The deuterium content of water at the remote sites is increased and provides water stream(s) with augmented deuterium concentration to feed to the central heavy water production plant. This could be a first stage of the central CECE deuterium enrichment plant, increasing its capacity for heavy water production approximately in the ratio of its enrichment above natural deuterium concentrations. By relatively simple utilization of available deuterium enrichment capacity at the remote sites, advantages are achieved from a larger scale of heavy water production at the central production plant. The invention further provides systems and methods for adapting chlorate and chlorine dioxide systems which produce hydrogen to additionally produce deuterium-enriched water. | 02-03-2011 |

20120224846 | Fault Localization and Fiber Security in Optical Transponders - Designs, methods, and applications for fault localization and fiber security in optical transponders is described. In one embodiment a two-way time transfer protocol or other suitable method for synchronizing clocks between distant transponders is used. The clock synchronized transponders have digital signal processing to continually detect high precision time-histories of physical layer attributes in the transmission between the two transponders. Physical layer attributes can include: state-of-polarization changes, changes in polarization-mode-dispersion, change in propagation delay, changes or loss-of-light, changes in OSNR, changes in BER between the two nodes. By recording these physical layer changes and time-stamping them information on the magnitude and estimated location of the changes can be inferred by from the time records. In one aspect the method may be used in a distributed optical sensor for monitoring trespassing events that are a risk to fiber security of an optical transmission link. | 09-06-2012 |

Further, the dominant filters taps of the adaptive equalizer are maintained near a middle of a tap index range. The receiver may also include an interpolation function upstream of the adaptive equalizer and a symbol timing error estimation function that feeds a control signal back to the interpolation function, wherein the interpolation function causes the adaptive equalizer function and symbol timing error estimation function to receive an integer number of samples per symbol. | 09-13-2012 |
