20090212507 | DEVICE AND METHOD FOR HOLDING A TOOL BIT - A device for holding a bit for a tool, the bit to be disassembled and/or re-assembled when held, includes a housing to be secured to a stationary base and a clamping mechanism for releasably clamping the bit to the housing so that it may be disassembled and/or re-assembled, the clamping mechanism including a recess provided in the housing, a movable gripping element arranged inside the recess and having a first gripping area for engaging the bit part, and a stationary gripping element, the gripping element having a second gripping area for engaging a bit part, wherein the movable gripping element is configured to be moved between an open position wherein the stationary gripping element and the movable gripping element are spaced to allow to receive or to remove the bit part and a clamping position wherein the bit part is clamped between first and second gripping areas of the gripping elements. | 08-27-2009 |
20100154235 | DEVICE FOR DETERMINING A DISTANCE FROM A REFERENCE SURFACE - A device for determining the distance of a cutting tool, for instance a router bit, relative to a first reference surface or a second reference surface, the second reference surface extending essentially perpendicular to the first reference surface. The device has a central body, a pair of feet mounted to the central body, the feet being spaced apart so as to be able to accommodate between them the cutting tool, and a pointing element slidably arranged relative to the central body. In a horizontal mode of operation, when the feet are placed on or against the first reference surface, the pointing element may be moved relative to the central body to abut the cutting tool for determining the distance between the cutting tool and the first reference surface. At least one of the feet is configured to set the height of the pointer element with respect to the second reference surface. | 06-24-2010 |
20120237310 | SYSTEM AND DEVICE FOR HOLDING A WORK PIECE TO BE MACHINED BY A ROUTER AND USE THEREOF - A holding device and method for engaging a work piece to route an end thereof. The device includes parallel first and second side plates and first and second clamping plates; where the clamping plates are positioned between the side plates. A connector member connects all the plates together. An activator assembly is engaged with the plates and, in a first instance, moves the clamping plates laterally toward each other and in a second instance moves them laterally away from each other. When moved toward each other, each clamping plate contacts one of the elongated sides of the work piece and the work piece is thereby clamped between the clamping plates. A clamping element extends downwardly from the connector member to contact the work piece. The holding device is usable in two different orientations to enable routing of the end face or second face of the work piece. | 09-20-2012 |
20130039710 | LATERAL MOVEMENT INHIBITOR FOR A DRILL PRESS TABLE AND AN ADJUSTABLE DRILL PRESS TABLE INCORPORATING THE SAME - A lateral motion inhibitor assembly, a drill press incorporating the inhibitor and a method of using the same. The inhibitor assembly includes a clamping assembly which fixedly engages a vertical support column of the drill press, a connector assembly which fixedly engages a horizontally-oriented drill press table; and a plate assembly which extends between and is pivotally secured to both the clamping and connector assemblies. The plate assembly includes a first plate and second plate that are pivotally secured together. The inhibitor assembly restrains the table and drill against lateral movement relative to each other when the table's vertical position on the support column is changed. The inhibitor assembly ensures that both an initial drill hole and a subsequent drill hole are drilled in substantially the same location on a workpiece supported on the table. | 02-14-2013 |
20130219692 | DEVICE AND METHOD FOR HOLDING A TOOL BIT - A device and method for holding a bit for a tool. The holding device, which is secured to a support surface, includes a housing having a base, a first leg and a second leg. A slot is defined between the first and second legs and the shank of the bit is received through one of a plurality of differently dimensioned apertures defined along the slot between the first and second legs. An adjustment assembly is engaged with the first and second legs and is movable to a first position to clamp the shank in the selected aperture; and is movable to a second position to release the shank. When the adjustment assembly is moved from the second position to the first position, a free end of the second leg bends toward the first leg, thereby reducing the diameter of the aperture within which the shank is received. | 08-29-2013 |
