20110024448 | Apparatus and method for dispensing foam - A foam transfer device is described, for use with aerosol canister apparatus for producing a sclerosant foam for the treatment of, inter alia, varicose veins. The device enables diversion of an initial quantity of below-specification foam from the canister to waste, e.g. to an integral waste chamber, before dispensing a further quantity of foam for use in treatment. The switching of the flow from the waste chamber to a different outlet for use is accomplished without interrupting the flow from the aerosol canister since this would cause the foam to drop below specification again. The waste chamber may be transparent so that the foam entering it can be observed and a decision made by a user when to stop diverting foam to waste. Alternatively, the foam may be diverted automatically e.g. when a set time has elapsed or a set volume of foam dispensed. The foam for use is normally dispensed into a syringe for subsequent injection into a varicose vein of a patient. | 02-03-2011 |

20100260007 | Preparation of therapeutic foam - Closed pouch comprising a wall defining an enclosed space containing carbon dioxide, and a pair of syringes contained within the enclosed space. The syringes are connected together by a syringe connector, and of the syringes contains a gas or gas mixture other than air, while the other contains a foamable liquid. Breakage of the syringe, connector and pumping of the syringes produces a foam useful in the treatment of varicose veins. | 10-14-2010 |
20140361045 | PREPARATION OF THERAPEUTIC FOAM - A device is described for facilitating the preparation of therapeutic foam e.g. for the treatment of varicose veins. A pressurised vial contains a sclerosant liquid, e.g., polidocanol solution, and a sterile gas which is readily absorbed by the body, e.g., carbon dioxide, oxygen or a mixture of these gases. The vial is provided either with a specialised stopper/seal into which a syringe nozzle may be inserted or alternatively a septum seal which may be penetrated by a hypodermic needle. The quantities of gas and liquid and the pressure in the vial are pre-set so that, on connection of a syringe to the vial, a predetermined volume of both gas and liquid is transferred to the syringe, with the intention that the syringe is then used to make a foam by known means. The use of the vial ensures that the ratio of gas to liquid in the foam is standardised, and also provides a convenient way of packaging the gas and liquid and of filling the syringe in a sterile manner. | 12-11-2014 |
20150231385 | LOW OPENING PRESSURE ANTI-SIPHON CHECK VALVE - A one-way valve device, in particular a low-pressure check valve, for use in infusion equipment, with a housing having an inlet line and an outlet line, the inlet and outlet lines being connected to a pressure space in the housing, the inlet line being arranged on a first side of the housing, and the outlet line being arranged on a second side of the housing opposite the first side, the pressure space being constructed from two interconnected pressure chambers, and the one-way valve device being designed such that the through-flow is interrupted by a static underpressure prevailing on the inlet line and/or the outlet line or by an overpressure on the outlet line, wherein the two pressure chambers are arranged lying one above the other in the housing with respect to the flow direction between the first and the second side. | 08-20-2015 |
20160106909 | Apparatus for Simultaneous Multiple Medicament Administration - The invention relates to an apparatus and a method for simultaneous multiple medicine administration. The apparatus according to the invention comprises a housing in which at least two entry chambers and a collecting point are formed, wherein each entry chamber communicates with the collecting point via a flow path respectively and wherein in each flow path at least one penetration member is arranged, which causes a decrease in pressure downstream to the penetration member with respect to the pressure upstream to the penetration member. According to the method of the invention the independency of flow rates is eliminated irrespective of the equipment that is used, wherein a fluid is fed to a collecting point via separate flow paths and at least one penetration member is arranged within each flow path causing a decrease in pressure downstream to the penetration member with respect to the pressure upstream to the penetration member. | 04-21-2016 |

20090184275 | FLUID HANDLING DEVICE AND METHOD OF MAKING SAME - A fluid handling device, such as a needlefree access device, includes a housing having an inlet and an inlet channel; and a flow control member comprising a combination outlet, biasing and piston member. The flow control member includes a piston section moveable between a closed position in which the piston section is in the inlet channel and an open position in which the piston section is inside the housing below the inlet channel but allows fluid to flow through the inlet channel; a biasing section connected to the piston section that normally biases the piston section into the inlet channel; and an outlet section connected to the biasing section having an outlet fitting in fluid communication with the inside of the housing. The piston section, biasing section and outlet section are connected together such that they can be handled as one piece when assembled with the housing to make the needlefree access device. The access device can be configured as a Y-site access device, or used on other devices such as an IV bag. A check valve made by a two shot molding process is also disclosed. | 07-23-2009 |
