20110075105 | MULTIPLEXING LIGHT PIPE HAVING ENHANCED BRIGHTNESS - Multi-color light sources are mixed in a recycling housing to achieve high light output. In one embodiment, the light from each color light source, such as from red, green and blue LEDs, is multiplexed together and a portion of the mixed light passes through an output aperture in the light pipe. A portion of each colored light is recycled back, for example, by a shaped reflective surface and/or a reflective coating adjacent the aperture. The shape of the reflective surface is such as to direct each color of light back to a specific location to maximize the ultimate output light. In one embodiment, the light is directed back from the output side of the housing to an input light source having the same color. In another embodiment, the light is directed back from the output side of the housing to a coating designed to reflect that color light. The reflected light is then reflected back toward the output aperture and a portion of that reflected light is again reflected toward the input and impacts the original source for that color light. In this way, the light (at least in theory) recycles infinitely, thereby increasing the total light output of the housing. In some embodiments, the light is recycled using polarization and in some embodiments the input light is collimated. | 03-31-2011 |

20100098312 | EXACT AND APPROXIMATE REBINNING OF TIME-OF-FLIGHT PET POSITRON EMISSION TOMOGRAPHY DATA - A technique for processing of data from time-of-flight (TOF) PET scanners. The size of TOF PET data may be reduced without significant loss of information through a process called rebinning. The rebinning may use the Fourier transform properties of the measured PET data, taken with respect to the time-of-flight variable, to perform data reduction. Through this rebinning process, TOF PET data may be converted to any of the following reduced representations: 2D TOF PET data, 3D non-TOF PET data, and 2D non-TOF PET data. Mappings may be exact or approximate. Approximate mappings may not require a Fourier transform in the axial direction which may have advantages when used with PET scanners of limited axial extent. Once TOF PET data is reduced in size using this rebinning, PET images may be reconstructed with hardware and/or software that is substantially less complex and that may run substantially faster in comparison to reconstruction from the original non-rebinned data. | 04-22-2010 |

In preferred embodiments, two spectra are subtracted from each other to give a difference spectrum and each channel is analyzed independently to characterize the trapped cell. Alternatively, the Raman spectrum can be subjected to Principal Component Analysis (PCA) in order to characterize the trapped cell. The trapped cell thus classified can be sorted, or further manipulated. | 09-23-2010 |

20100057377 | System and Method for Feature Alignment - In a system and method for feature alignment in chromatographic systems, the system runs a first sample through a first separation column. The system determines a first set of features for the first sample run. The system runs a second sample through a second separation column and detects a second set of features for the second sample run. The system estimates a systematic shift in features between the first sample run through the first separation column and the second sample run through the second separation column. The system adjusts the second set of features detected for the second sample run through the second separation column based on the estimated systematic shift to obtain a third set of adjusted features. | 03-04-2010 |

20100254474 | Feedback Strategies for Multi-User MIMO Communication Systems - A method for signal processing in a receiver includes receiving in the receiver a Multi-User Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MU-MIMO) signal. The MU-MIMO signal includes at least a first signal, which is precoded using a first precoding scheme and is addressed to the receiver, and a second signal, which is precoded using a second precoding scheme. An average error rate achievable in decoding the first signal in the presence of the second signal is computed. The average error rate is computed over a set of possible choices of the second precoding scheme. The first precoding scheme is selected from among a plurality of available precoding schemes so as to satisfy a criterion defined over the average error rate. The receiver sends feedback to a transmitter transmitting the first signal. The feedback depends on the selected first precoding scheme and causes the transmitter to control transmission of the first signal. | 10-07-2010 |

20110107280 | Selection of Optimum Patterns in a Design Layout Based on Diffraction Signature Analysis - The present invention relates generally to selecting optimum patterns based on diffraction signature analysis, and more particularly to, using the optimum patterns for mask-optimization for lithographic imaging. A respective diffraction map is generated for each of a plurality of target patterns from an initial larger set of target patterns from the design layout. Diffraction signatures are identified from the various diffraction maps. The plurality of target patterns is grouped into various diffraction-signature groups, the target patterns in a specific diffraction-signature group having similar diffraction signature. A subset of target patterns is selected to cover all possible diffraction-signature groups, such that the subset of target patterns represents at least a part of the design layout for the lithographic process. The grouping of the plurality of target patterns may be governed by predefined rules based on similarity of diffraction signature. The predefined rules comprise coverage relationships existing between the various diffraction-signature groups. | 05-05-2011 |
