20110154547 | Peach rootstock named 'HBOK 50' - A new and distinct variety of peach rootstock denominated ‘HBOK 50’ is described. The ‘HBOK 50’ peach rootstock offers size control ability, root knot nematode resistance, less wood from dormant and summer pruning, and production of fewer root suckers. ‘HBOK 50’ has contributed to size reduction of compound trees when it is used as a clonally-produced rootstock with the fresh market peach “O'Henry”. No evidence of graft incompatibility or other abnormalities have been noted in such circumstances. Fruit on compound trees with ‘HBOK 50’ rootstocks is either similar in size or smaller than ‘Nemaguard’. The ‘HBOK 50’ rootstock displays root knot nematode resistance levels similar to ‘Nemaguard’ and more resistant than ‘Lovell’. | 06-23-2011 |
20110154548 | Peach Tree Rootstock Named 'HBOK 10' - The new ‘HBOK 10’ rootstock, a hybrid between two peach parents, is useful as a commercial under-stock for peach and nectarine cultivars. The stock has been successfully propagated clonally by leafy cuttings and tissue culture. This rootstock imparts significant vigor control to the scion cultivar that is propagated on top of it. This rootstock produces very few root suckers, its anchorage is good and it is resistant to root-knot nematode. Utilization of adapted growth controlling rootstocks in commercial orchard situations reduces the height of the tree and the amount of wood pruned in the winter and summer, without compromising the quality of the fruit. This in turn increases the efficiency of various cultural operations such as pruning, thinning and harvesting by reducing the need for workers in the field to use tall ladders when carrying out these operations. | 06-23-2011 |

20090218375 | Close proximity pouring device - There is disclosed herein a Close Proximity Pouring Device to automatically pour molten metal into a mold. The pouring device consists of a pour box equipped with a stopper rod and nozzle to dispense molten metal into a mold. This is accomplished by lowering the pour box so that a truncated conical pour nozzle, which extends below the pour box, is lowered into a truncated conical cavity in the mold without making contact with the mold. Then, when the stopper rod is opened, molten metal flows from the pour box through the nozzle and into the mold. As the molten metal fills the conical void between the nozzle and the mold, a seal is established preventing air from entering the mold. Oxidation and/or gassing of the molten metal entering the mold is minimized reducing the chance of producing defective castings. Once the molten metal seal is achieved between the nozzle and the mold, the metal head in the pouring vessel adds head pressure to improve filling the mold. Likewise, as the molten metal flows through the nozzle and fills the conical void between the nozzle and the mold, energy is transferred from the molten metal to the tip of the nozzle. By heating the tip of the nozzle during each pour, buildup of metal and metal oxides on the nozzle is eliminated. | 09-03-2009 |

20090035304 | Use of Tgf-beta Antagonists to Limit Nephrotoxicity of Immunosuppressive Agents - The disclosure relates to methods of ameliorating nephrotoxic side effects of immunosuppressive agents whose immunosuppressive activity is mediated via upregulation of TGF-β such as, for example, cyclosporine (CsA). The disclosure provides treatment modalities for use in patients that require immunosuppression, e.g., patients at risk of transplant rejection or having an autoimmune disease. In the methods of the invention, a TGF-β antagonist, e.g., an anti-TGF-β antibody, is administered to a patient treated with an immunosuppressive agent. Such a TGF-β antagonist is administered in a therapeutically effective amount sufficient to alleviate the nephrotoxic effects of the immunosuppressive agent without substantially interfering with immunosuppressive activity of the agent. | 02-05-2009 |

20100204104 | FUSION PROTEINS CONTAINING TWO TGF-BETA BINDING DOMAINS OF TGF-BETA TYPE II RECEPTOR - The disclosure provides fusion proteins that contain two TGF-β binding domains of TGF-β type II receptor joined to each other by a linker. For example, the C terminus of the first TGF-β binding domain is joined by a short peptide linker (e.g., a 9-glycine linker) to the N terminus of the second TGF-β binding domain. Despite the proximity of the C terminus of the first domain to N terminus of the second domain, such a fusion protein effectively neutralizes TGF-β, in some cases, similarly to anti-TGF-β antibodies. | 08-12-2010 |
