20090210351 | System and Method for Minimizing Redundant Meetings - A system and method for minimizing redundant events/meetings is provided. With the system and method, when a meeting request is made, a search of meetings currently in place for the participants involved in the meeting is performed to find potential matches and patterns between them. If a potential match is found, a notification is sent to request that participants join in on a matching currently existing meeting. If that request is declined, a meeting time close to the found meeting is recommended so that preparation time is minimized for these meetings as the preparation has already been completed for the previous meeting. Not only will this maximize the amount of work time people have, it will increase the size of the community that is present within meetings. This will allow for larger collaboration between different, potentially unrelated, parties interested in the meeting topic. | 08-20-2009 |

20090207977 | Laser Aligned Image Guided Radiation Beam Verification Apparatus - A method and apparatus for verifying radiation beam alignment in an image guided stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) delivery system such as the Cyberknife™. SRS systems such as the Cyberknife™ use a high-precision robotic manipulator with an image-guided system to deliver beams of radiation to a target for optimal clinical results. This radiation delivery system does not usually rotate around a fixed center of axis, therefore a set of pre-programmed positions (nodes) defined as a path is often configured into the system's software to allow proper radiation treatment. In order to achieve the accuracy of the image-guided SRS radiation delivery, these nodes must be calibrated regularly to verify that the radiation beam axis precisely passes through a certain reference point or alignment center with predefined angles. This invention achieves precise verification of radiation beam alignment with a radiation beam detection apparatus mounted on a gimbal assembly. The radiation beam detection apparatus houses an alignment fixture of varying geometric shape, such as a metallic ball or can be an array of radio-opaque markers positioned symmetrically at the gimbal assembly's common rotation center. The radiation detection apparatus comprises a radiation detector such as film and an alignment mirror, which are parallel to each other on opposite sides of the alignment fixture. The radiation detector is used to capture a radiographic image of the alignment fixture and the circular radiation field. The resulting image is analyzed to determine the eccentricity of the radiation field. If the radiation beam is perfectly aligned, the resulting exposure on the film will show a perfectly symmetrically superimposed circular radiation field and the image of the alignment fixture. This method is used to verify beam alignment for each pre-calibrated node and determine whether adjustment to node positions is required. | 08-20-2009 |

20080215060 | FASTENER INSERTION METHOD - A method may include rotating a threaded fastener at a first rotational speed to provide a kinetic energy force component for the fastener based on the first rotational speed and driving the fastener into a structure based on the rotating. The structure may provide a torsional resistance during the driving greater than a torsional strength of the fastener. The driving may provide a torque force component applied to the fastener. The driving may cut threads into the structure with the fastener. The driving may apply a total force to the structure from the fastener including the kinetic energy force component and the torque force component. The total force applied by the fastener may be greater than or equal to a force required for the cutting. The torque force component may be less than a torsional strength of the fastener. | 09-04-2008 |
20130274816 | FASTENER INSERTION METHOD - A method is provided and may include rotating a biocompatible, non-metallic threaded fastener at a rotational speed greater than 15,000 revolutions per minute and driving said fastener into a bone at said rotational speed. | 10-17-2013 |
20140378976 | LOCKING MECHANISM TO SECURE ENDS OF AN IMPLANTABLE FABRIC - A locking mechanism for securing ends of an implantable fabric including a plate member having an aperture therethrough. A cam member is rotatable relative to the aperture between a locked state and an unlocked state. The implantable fabric is movable relative to the plate member when the cam member is in the unlocked state and restricted from moving relative to the plate member when the cam member is in the locked state. | 12-25-2014 |
20150038969 | Sternal Closure Cerclage, Plate Implant And Instrumentation - A closure system may secure a first bone portion to a second bone portion. The closure system may include a band, a locking terminal, and a tensioning device. The band may be adapted to be looped around the first and second bone portions. The locking terminal may fixedly engage a first portion of the band and selectively fixedly engage a second portion of the band. The tensioning device may include a body and a threaded rod. The threaded rod may be received in the body and may engage the band such that movement of the threaded rod relative to the body moves the second portion of the band relative to the first portion of the band. | 02-05-2015 |
20150045794 | Sternal Closure Cerclage, Plate Implant And Instrumentation - A closure system may secure a first bone portion to a second bone portion. The closure system may include a bracket, a band and a tensioning device. The bracket may include a first portion adapted to engage the first bone portion and a second portion adapted to engage the second bone portion. The band may engage the bracket and may be adapted to be looped around the first and second bone portions. The tensioning device may include a body and a threaded member. The threaded member may be received in the body and may engage the band such that rotation of the threaded member relative to the body moves a first end of the band relative to a second end of the band. | 02-12-2015 |
20150297272 | CONTOURABLE PLATE - A medical device that may include a main body and a plurality of hooks. The main body includes a length extending along an axis between first and second ends. The main body may be deformable such that the axis forms an arch shape corresponding to a shape of a mandibular jaw or a maxillary jaw. The main body may include a plurality of sections each having first and second edges defining a first width and a plurality of openings disposed between the first and second edges and extending through a thickness of the main body. The main body may include a plurality of recessed portions defining a second width disposed between adjacent ones of the sections. Each of the hooks may extend from a corresponding one of the sections. | 10-22-2015 |

20120099399 | SONAR DATA COLLECTION SYSTEM - A system that can be used for inspecting underwater structures. The system allows a user to gain a better understanding of the condition of an underwater structure. The system is a self-contained, modular system that can be operated by divers, coupled to an AUV, ROV or other host platform vehicle deployment platform, towed by a ship, pole mounted, or hull mounted. All of the components necessary to achieve the desired scanning functions are incorporated onto the self-contained, modular system. The system can include and fully utilize a 3D sonar system and an inertial navigation system. This combination of features permits the system to be used to, for example, generate 3D models of underwater structures, detect changes in underwater structures by comparing the generated 3D model against an a priori 3D model, and provide navigational updates to the host platform based on the observed features of an underwater structure. | 04-26-2012 |
