20130315930 | GENETIC AMPLIFICATION OF IQGAPI IN CANCER - We examined IQGAP1 copy gain and its relationship with clinicopathologic outcomes of thyroid cancer and investigated its role in cell invasion and molecules involved in the process. We found IQGAP1 copy number (CN) gain ?3 in 1 of 30 (3%) of benign thyroid tumor, 24 of 74 (32%) follicular variant papillary thyroid cancer (FVPTC), 44 of 107 (41%) follicular thyroid cancer (FTC) 8 of 16 (50%) tall cell papillary thyroid cancer (PTC), and 27 of 41 (66%) anaplastic thyroid cancer, in increasing order of invasiveness of these tumors. A similar tumor distribution trend of CN ?4 was also seen. IQGAP1 copy gain was positively correlated with IQGAP1 protein expression. It was significantly associated with extrathyroidal and vascular invasion of FVPTC and FTC and, remarkably, a 50%-60% rate of multifocality and recurrence of BRAF mutation-positive PTC (P=0.01 and 0.02, respectively). The siRNA knock-down of IQGAP1 dramatically inhibited thyroid cancer cell invasion and colony formation. Co-immunoprecipitation assay showed direct interaction of IQGAP1 with E-cadherin, a known invasion-suppressing molecule, which was upregulated when IQGAP1 was knocked down. IQGAP1, through genetic copy gain, plays an important role in the invasiveness of thyroid cancer and represents a useful prognostic marker and therapeutic target for this and other cancers. | 11-28-2013 |

20140317317 | ASSIGNING PRIORITIES TO DATA FOR HYBRID DRIVES - A hybrid drive includes multiple parts: a performance part (e.g., a flash memory device) and a base part (e.g., a magnetic or other rotational disk drive). A drive access system, which is typically part of an operating system of a computing device, issues input/output (I/O) commands to the hybrid drive to store data to and retrieve data from the hybrid drive. The drive access system assigns, based on various available information, a priority level to groups of data identified by logical block addresses (LBAs). With each I/O command, the drive access system includes an indication of the priority level of the LBA(s) associated with the I/O command. Some data can be stored in one part but not the other, and this data can be synchronized with (e.g., copied to) the other part at various times. The drive access system provides indications to the hybrid drive of when to synchronize data in one part with the other part. These indications are made so that potential interference with use of the device by the user and/or power saving modes of the device due to the synchronization is reduced. | 10-30-2014 |

The drive access system assigns, based on various available information, a priority level to groups of data identified by logical block addresses (LBAs). With each I/O command, the drive access system includes an indication of the priority level of the LBA(s) associated with the I/O command. The hybrid drive determines, based on the priority level indications received from the drive access system, which LBAs are stored on which part or parts of the hybrid drive. | 07-09-2015 |

20130246228 | PRODUCT-FAMILY INVENTORY REPLENISHMENT SYSTEM USING A COMPOSITE PRODUCT MIX FRAMEWORK - In accordance with embodiments of the present disclosure, systems and methods for inventory replenishment utilize supply chain data comprising a demand mix, an inventory mix, and a composite product mix to generate a new composite product mix for at least one future period. The system geometrically discounts demand-inventory composite data. Thus, the older data carries less weight in determination of the new composite product mix percentage. Smoothing factors allow the discounting to be applied differently to demand and inventory data. The new composite product mix and an estimate of the total target replenishment quantity of a product family are used to estimate individual target replenishment quantities for each of a plurality of individual products in a product family. Replenishment quantities can be determined for an extended planning horizon. A server may provide the replenishment quantities to the user of a client computer over a computer network. | 09-19-2013 |
