20090204458 | Life Cycle Management System for Intelligent Electronic Devices - This invention relates to the Life Cycle Management System for distributed Intelligent Electronic Devices (IED) starting from the design phase to the end of service phase. Hence, it caters to the needs from installation via engineering, installation/commissioning phases, until asset management and remote service support of the devices during the operational phase The increasing decentralization of the involved components via networks, especially via the Internet, is a key criterion and needs to be addressed by the life cycle management. The added value for the customer grows disproportionately with the degree of integration of multiple independent software components into a complex and often highly distributed control system. The architecture of today's control systems must be sufficiently flexible to allow customers to regard their plant components from various locations. Additionally, the stability, security and maintainability of such a system is strongly dependent on the homogeneity and interoperability of all involved components. | 08-13-2009 |

20120294879 | CONSENSUS SEQUENCE FOR INFLUENZA A VIRUS - Pandemic A(H1N1) continues its global spread, and vaccine production is a serious problem. Protection by current vaccines is limited by the mutational differences that rapidly accumulate in the circulating strains, especially in the virus surface proteins. New vaccine strategies are focusing at conserved regions of the viral internal proteins to produce T cell epitope-based vaccines. T cell responses have been shown to reduce morbidity and promote recovery in mouse models of influenza challenge. We previously reported 54 highly conserved sequences of NP, M1 and the polymerases of all human H1N1, H3N2, H1N2, and H5N1, and avian subtypes over the past 30 years. Sixty-three T cell epitopes elicited responses in HLA transgenic mice (A2, A24, B7, DR2, DR3 and DR4). These epitopes were compared to the 2007-2009 human H1N1 sequences to identify conserved and variant residues. Seventeen T cell epitopes of PB1, PB2, and M1 were selected as vaccine targets by analysis of sequence conservation and variability, functional avidity, non-identity to human peptides, clustered localization, and promiscuity to multiple HLA alleles. The vaccines composed of these epitopes, being highly conserved and temporally stable, would be useful for any avian or human influenza A virus. | 11-22-2012 |

20100116030 | System and method for measuring porosity of high strength and high performance concrete using a vacuum-pressure saturation method - The method for measuring porosity of concrete is a vacuum pressure saturation-based method for calculating a porosity value of a sample of concrete. The method includes the steps of first drying a concrete sample and then making a first weight measurement of the concrete sample. Following the first weight measurement, the concrete sample is placed in a vacuum pressure vessel, where the sample is subjected to vacuum. The vacuum pressure vessel and a pressure cell are next filled with water. Water in the pressure cell and vacuum pressure vessel is pressurized, and the sample remains within the pressurized water for twenty-four hours. The sample remains submerged in the vacuum pressure vessel for another twenty-four hour period to achieve equilibrium. A second weight is then taken in the water, and a third weight measurement is taken in air. The porosity is calculated based upon the first, second and third weight measurements. | 05-13-2010 |

In an example embodiment, a dual antenna system includes antennas, antenna control units, a transfer switch, and a modem. For example, the transfer switch may transfer a connection between antennas based on changing satellite visibility, upon entering a preprogrammed blockage zone or an unexpected loss of satellite visibility. The transfer switch may receive GPS data from an external GPS unit and/or the antenna control units and buffer the GPS data to a modem. The transfer switch may provide a modem receive-lock signal to retarget a line of sight. The transfer switch may transfer the connection between the antennas based on satellite visibility including signal reception quality and/or a modem receive-lock status. The transfer switch may, based on a difference in antenna uplink transmission power, attenuate a higher power antenna to be balanced with a lower power antenna. | 03-28-2013 |

20110195121 | CHRONOTHERAPEUTIC PHARMACEUTICAL DOSAGE FORM - This invention relates to a pharmaceutical dosage form for the phase-controlled and chronotherapeutic delivery of at least one and, preferably, several pharmaceutically active ingredients. The dosage form has a carrier platform which,—preferably, is a polymer having known biodegradable characteristics. The platform may include a pharmaceutically active ingredient'which is released over a predetermined period of time as the platform polymer degrades. At least one pharmaceutically active ingredient in the form of a disc is embedded in the platform and, once the polymer of the platform has degraded, the disc is released and releases its ingredient in the same location as that of the platform or it travels to another region of the body where it releases its ingredient. | 08-11-2011 |

20100209971 | GENERATION OF NUCLEIC ACID MOLECULES - The present invention relates generally to methods for generating single stranded nucleic acid molecules following enhanced solid phase polynucleotide amplification. The present invention employs an amplification reaction using primers with differential priming properties at particular annealing conditions or an immobilized primer nested between two aqueous phase primers. Thus, by primer design, solid support primer participation is enhanced relative to aqueous phase primers. The subject invention further provides methods for labeling solid matrices with single and double stranded nucleic acid molecules. Kits for generating single stranded nucleic acid molecules and for conducting amplification reactions also form part of the present invention. The present invention further provides amplification systems for the generation of single stranded nucleic acid molecules optionally labelled with a reporter molecule and their use inter alia as labels, primers and probes. | 08-19-2010 |
