20100196695 | CONTROLLED-ORIENTATION FILMS AND NANOCOMPOSITES INCLUDING NANOTUBES OR OTHER NANOSTRUCTURES - Generally, the present invention provides methods for the production of materials comprising a plurality of nanostructures such as nanotubes (e.g., carbon nanotubes) and related articles. The plurality of nanostructures may be provided such that their long axes are substantially aligned and, in some cases, continuous from end to end of the sample. For example, in some cases, the nanostructures may be fabricated by uniformly growing the nanostructures on the surface of a substrate, such that the long axes are aligned and non-parallel to the substrate surface. The nanostructures may be, in some instances, substantially perpendicular to the substrate surface. In one set of embodiments, a force with a component normal to the long axes of the nanostructures may be applied to the substantially aligned nanostructures. The application of a force may result in a material comprising a relatively high volume fraction or mass density of nanostructures. In some instances, the application of a force may result in a material comprising relatively closely-spaced nanostructures. The materials described herein may be further processed for use in various applications, such as composite materials (e.g., nanocomposites). For example, a set of aligned nanostructures may be formed, and, after the application of a force, transferred, either in bulk or to another surface, and combined with another material (e.g., to form a nanocomposite) to enhance the properties of the material. | 08-05-2010 |
20100255303 | MULTIFUNCTIONAL COMPOSITES BASED ON COATED NANOSTRUCTURES - Processing of nanostructures, composite materials comprising nanostructures, and related systems and methods are described. In some embodiments, conformal coatings are applied to nanostructures. | 10-07-2010 |

20090052005 | Electronic Electrochromic Device and Method - A solid-state electronic electrochromic device (ECD) operates electronically rather than relying on the ionic motion that is common in electrochromic devices. The electronic ECD has at least one active layer sandwiched between two electrodes. The active layer is made of mixed metal oxides and may be made of a mixture of tungsten and praseodymium oxides. The electronic ECD may have only a single active layer, or may have multiple layers that have the same composition and that are separated by thin transparent metal films. Some versions of the electronic ECD incorporate a distribution of small metal particles within the active layer. | 02-26-2009 |

20160106334 | BREAST CANCER IMAGING DEVICE THROUGH MICROWAVE SURFACE IMPEDANCE - A breast cancer imaging device with microwave surface impedance is a device which is used for imaging tumors in breast tissue using harmless electromagnetic waves in microwave band. It performs this function by using harmless electromagnetic waves without using X-ray. Thus, it can be performed in desired frequency, as many times as desired. Since compressing the breasts is no longer required, it is not a painful imaging process for the patient; moreover, it does not fail to detect the tumors that are close to the rib cage. | 04-21-2016 |

20100058147 | METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR RELIABLE MEDIA TRANSPORT - Methods and apparatuses to model the relation between the delay samples and congestion losses and to protect media flows against congestion losses are disclosed. In one embodiment, the method comprises measuring congestion by delay samples, and performing a dynamic FEC algorithm that uses convex hull clustering for loss-event classification, including determining an FEC rate according to the loss-event classification. In another embodiment, the method comprises measuring congestion by delay samples, modeling loss events associated with the delay samples by grouping loss events as unions of convex hulls to identify a period of potentially increased congestion, dynamically changing the FEC rate based on the modeling, and applying FEC protection to the media flow during the period based on the FEC rate. In yet another embodiment, the method comprises forming clusters using past loss events and their {FTT, F{dot over (T)}T} or {RTT, R{dot over (T)}T} estimates, and estimating future loss events using most recent {FTT, F{dot over (T)}T} or {RTT, R{dot over (T)}T} estimates and their membership in convex hull clusters. | 03-04-2010 |

20130332621 | SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR COOPERATIVE DATA STREAMING - A system and method for cooperative data streaming are disclosed. According to one embodiment, a system for cooperative data streaming comprises a group of devices comprising at least two devices, which are interested in obtaining the same content from the same server. Each device comprises one or more primary network interfaces connecting the device to the data streaming service and one or more secondary network interfaces connecting the device to one or more of the other devices through one or more wireless local networks. The primary network interfaces are configured for connecting the devices to the data streaming service for receiving at least segments of data. The secondary network interfaces are configured for mutually connecting said devices in order to locally exchange said received segments of data. | 12-12-2013 |
