20090272020Bobbing waterfowl decoy - A floating water tight mechanical waterfowl decoy that produces a bobbing motion at the surface of the water for creating a radiating ripple pattern and a motion which also mimics a courtship behavior, both of which are effective lures for attracting waterfowl to a desired location. The waterfowl decoy includes a buoyant waterproof body to which an electric vertically reciprocating linear motion drivetrain is mounted to the bottom surface in the general head region that drives a disc shaped plunger positioned generally horizontally below the body surface. The waterfowl decoy further includes a waterproof magazine, also mounted to the bottom surface of the body generally in the posterior region behind the drivetrain, for containment of a timing/receiver circuit that controls the drivetrain and is in signal communication with a remote transmitter that functions as an ON/OFF switch. The waterfowl decoy is powered by a rechargeable battery pack also located in the magazine. The bobbing motion is produced by the up and down motion of the plunger in a dense medium such as water causing the motion to be transferred to the body. This motion, in addition to producing a visible wave train also mimics a courtship behavior making the motion and waves a very effective lure to passing waterfowl.11-05-2009

The rocker arm includes an elbow pivotally attached to the frame distant the spool support, a catch indicator extending radially outward from the elbow in a first direction, and a rocker forearm extending radially outward from the elbow connector in a second direction. The rocker forearm has a first guide for receipt of the fishing line from the spool. The swing arm includes a swivel connector pivotally attached to the frame and a distal extent opposite the swivel connector with a second guide for receipt of the fishing line from the first guide. In an exemplary embodiment, the fishing line extends from the spool through the first guide, then through the second guide and downwardly therefrom to the fishing opening. A tug of a fish caught on the fishing line pulls the first guide which pivots the rocker arm to a catch position with the rocker forearm extending over the aperture and the catch indicator extending upright as indicia that the fish is caught.11-05-2009

20090272049Method of building elevated water storage tanks - The disclosed liquid storage tank has a concrete tower section. A steel tank shell above the tower section encompasses a tank volume that has a capacity of at least 100,000 U.S. gallons. A concrete ringbeam at the top of the tower section surrounds an internal area between the ringbeam and an access tube that extends from within the tank volume into an interior of the tower section. The ringbeam has an integral upper wall above a ring-shaped, upwardly-facing supporting face that is at least about 4″ inches wide and resists downward forces. A series of laterally adjacent concrete dome segments creates a dome that has a vaulted upper surface and essentially covers the internal area. Each of the dome segments has an outer end that sits on the supporting face of the ringbeam, and an inner end that is positioned above the outer end. Lateral sides on each segment define a segment angle, and the sum of the segment angles of the adjacent segments is less than 360 degrees. Fill sections extend between adjacent dome segments. A pourback creates a continuous surface from the top of the upper wall on the ringbeam to a raised portion of the dome segments. A steel liner covers the dome. The liner has a vaulted upper surface and is connected to the tank shell. In building the tank, precast dome segments can be temporarily supported, with the support being removed after all the segments are placed.11-05-2009
