20090103511METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR SELECTING A RADIO LINK CONTROL PROTOCOL DATA UNIT SIZE - A method and apparatus are used to create RLC PDUs in advance of the E-TFC selection for the MAC PDU that will include this or these RLC PDU(s). The apparatus may be configured to pre-generate RLC PDUs for transmission in a later TTI. This approach avoids the large peak processing requirement due to the tight delay constraint if any RLC PDU to be included into a MAC PDU had to be created after the determination of the size of this MAC PDU, i.e. after E-TFC selection. The method and apparatus maintain an approximate match between the size of an RLC PDU and the size of the MAC PDU it is included into. 20090103521TELECOMMUNICATION AND MULTIMEDIA MANAGEMENT METHOD AND APPARATUS - An improved communication method for sending media between a sending node and receiving node during a conversation. Media that is ascertained as not time-sensitive on the other hand is transmitted when bandwidth in excess of what is needed for time-sensitive media becomes available. When the media ascertained as not time-sensitive is transmitted, the rate of transmission is adjusted at the sending node based on network conditions, the adjusted rate of transmission being set for network efficiency and reliable delivery of the media ascertained as not time-sensitive relative to the timeliness of the delivery of the media ascertained as time-sensitive.2009-04-23

If the network conditions are ascertained as being inadequate, then a reduced bit rate representation of the media designated as time-sensitive is generated and transmitted to the receiving node. At the receiving node, receipt reports are generated identifying the received reduced bit rate representation of the media. In accordance with the method, one of several transmission techniques is used to transmit the data streams, depending on the ascertained timeliness preference of each data stream. Either a first transmission technique is used for the less-than time-sensitive preference data streams or a second transmission technique is used for data streams with the time-sensitive preference. The first technique uses a larger first packetization interval, which is defined as the amount of time based media contained in each packet, compared to the second packetization interval used by the second technique.2009-04-23
20090103550IP network system - There is provided an IP network system. The IP network system includes: a plurality of relays making up a ring network; a source host for transmitting a packet and connected to the ring network; and a destination host which conducts a packet communication with the source host through the ring network. Each of the relays is operable to transfer received packets containing a transfer direction information to the destination host through a right-handed route of the ring network and through a left-handed route of the ring network, based on the transfer direction information.2009-04-23
20090103551MEDIA GATEWAY AND PACKET FILTERING METHOD THEREOF - A media gateway (MG) and a packet filtering method thereof are provided to enhance the adaptability of the packet filtering mechanism on the MG. The packet filtering rule for a service instance may be changed dynamically, namely, the MG analyzes the currently transmitted packets of a service instance, obtains the state change of the instance, and then dynamically changes the packet filtering rule of the instance according to the state change of the instance. The present invention extends the property parameters of the H.248 protocol or MGCP protocol and adds a property parameter that indicates the dynamic packet filtering function is enabled or disabled and a property parameter that indicates the service type so that the MGC can enable or disable the packet filtering function for the instance of the specified service type flexibly according to the values of such parameters.2009-04-23
20090103552METHOD, APPARATUS AND SYSTEM FOR A MEDIA GATEWAY CONTROLLER TO DELIVER A RESOURCE PROVISION DECISION TO A MEDIA GATEWAY - A method for a media gateway controller (MGC) to deliver a resource provision decision to a media gateway (MG) includes: the MGC receives a decision request from the MG and makes a resource provision decision according to service requirement information and/or resource status information, and delivers the resource provision decision to the MG. The present invention also discloses an MGC, an MG and a system comprising the MGC and MG In the invention, the MGC does not deliver the resource provision decision already made according to service requirement information and/or resource status information until reception of a decision request from the MG so that the MGC delivers a resource provision decision passively upon request of the MG. The Pull mode for delivery of the resource provision decision is thus supported.2009-04-23
20090103553METHOD, SYSTEM AND DEVICE FOR INSTRUCTING MEDIA GATEWAY TO SET UP TERMINATION CONNECTIONS - A method for instructing a media gateway to set up termination connections is disclosed in embodiments of the present invention. The method comprises: acquiring by a media gateway controller, MGC, information on connection capability, of a media gateway, MG, for various types of terminations; and when a calling connection is required, transmits from the MGC to the MG the connection indication carrying termination connection information that the MG has connection capability, according to the information on the MG's connection capability for various types of terminations. Embodiments of the present invention can ensure that the MG can effectively implement termination connection operation, so as to ensure a smooth progress of a calling connection process and greatly improve quality of service.2009-04-23
20090103554DATA TRANSFER DEVICE FOR RING PROTOCOL HIGH SPEED SWITCHING AND METHOD FOR THE SAME - The present invention provides a data transfer device. This data transfer device comprises a number n (where n is an integer equal to 2 or greater) of transfer resources functioning as nodes of ring networks and connection lines connecting a number m (where m is an integer equal to 2 or greater) of ring networks and the number n of transfer resources. The connection lines are configured to be capable to connect at least some of the m ring networks and at least some of the n transfer resources. A controller controls transfer resource specified among at least some of the transfer resources to manage at least some of m number of ring networks.2009-04-23
20090103555LABEL AND EXP FIELD BASED MPLS NETWORK DEVICE - A network device receives a label-switched-path (LSP) labeled data packet, maps the LSP labeled data packet to an input queue, maps a data packet in the input queue to an output queue based on a received LSP label value and a received exp label value, and transmits the LSP labeled data packet from the output queue.2009-04-23
20090103556DATA SWITCH - A data switch for an integrated circuit comprising at least one link for receiving input data packets from an independently modulated spread spectrum clock (SSC) enabled source having predetermined spread spectrum link clock frequency characteristics, and at least one output for transmitting the data packets after passage through the switch, the switch further comprising at least one receive buffer having a link side and a core side for receiving the SSC modulated input data packets from the link, at least one transmit buffer and a core clock, wherein the core clock operates at a given frequency between predetermined error limits determined by oscillation accuracy alone and is not SSC-enabled, the core clock frequency being set at a level at least as high as the highest link clock frequency such that the receive buffer cannot be filled faster from its link side than it can be emptied from its core side.2009-04-23
