20110085800 | APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR MONITORING RECEIVED OPTICAL POWER IN AN OPTICAL RECEIVER OVER A WIDE RANGE OF RECEIVED POWER WITH HIGH ACCURACY - A method and apparatus for use in an optical receiver are provided for monitoring the received optical power in the optical receiver over wide range of optical power levels with high accuracy. An adjustable resistor circuit of the apparatus has a first resistor and one or more second resistors that may be switched into and out of parallel with the first resistor to vary the resistance of the adjustable resistor circuit. A controller of the optical receiver controls the switching of the one or more second resistors into and out of parallel with the first resistor. Varying the resistance of the adjustable resistor circuit in this manner causes the value of the analog voltage signal representing the received optical power to be varied prior to being input to the ADC of the controller. In this way, the amplitude of the analog voltage signal is reduced when it is at the high end of the received power range so as not to exceed the input range of the ADC of the controller IC. When the amplitude of the analog voltage signal is at the lower end of the input range of the ADC, the amplitude of the analog voltage signal is not reduced. In this way, a wide range of received power is monitored with high accuracy. | 2011-04-14 |

The second member is formed to define dual vortex chambers at the upstream section in which the fluid is directed to flow in vortex patterns prior to being permitted to flow through the clearance gap area. | 2011-04-14 |
20110085893 | COUNTOURED HONEYCOMB SEAL FOR A TURBOMACHINE - A turbomachine includes a housing having an inner surface, a compressor, a turbine and a rotary member including a plurality of blade members configured as part of one of the compressor and the turbine. Each of the plurality of blade members includes a base portion and a tip portion. The turbomachine also includes a honeycomb seal member mounted to the inner surface of the housing adjacent the rotary member. The honeycomb seal member includes a contoured surface having formed therein a deformation zone. The deformation zone includes an inlet zone and an outlet zone. The inlet zone is spaced a first distance from the tip portion of each of the plurality of blade members and the outlet zone is spaced a second distance from the tip portion of each of the plurality of blade members. The second distance being substantially equal to or less than the first distance. | 2011-04-14 |
20110085894 | GAS TURBINE WITH A STATOR BLADE - A gas turbine with a stator blade is disclosed. The stator blade is fastened on a blade carrier and includes a blade airfoil which extends inwards in the radial direction from an outer platform into a hot gas passage. A cooling medium can flow through an interior of the blade airfoil, such as cooling air, which flows through an access in the blade carrier into a first plenum which is arranged above the outer platform, and from there, via an inlet which is provided in the outer platform, flows into the interior of the blade airfoil. | 2011-04-14 |
20110085895 | OIL TUBE WITH INTEGRATED HEAT SHIELD - A gas turbine engine has an oil tube for delivering oil through a high temperature zone of the engine to an engine component for cooling and lubrication. An insulation tube surrounds the oil tube and extends in a substantial length of the oil tube. The opposed ends of the insulation tube are integrally and sealingly connected to respective end portions of the oil tube to form a dead air annulus between the oil tube and the insulation tube. | 2011-04-14 |
20110085896 | CASING FOR A MOVING-BLADE WHEEL OF TURBOMACHINE - A casing for a turbomachine rotor wheel includes a plurality of circumferential grooves, each of substantially constant section, with the section areas of the circumferential grooves decreasing from upstream to downstream on going from the first groove to the last groove. By treating the casing in this way, the efficiency of the rotor wheel is optimized and its surge margin is improved. | 2011-04-14 |
