| 20130041633 | HEAT FRONT CAPTURE IN THERMAL RECOVERY SIMULATIONS OF HYDROCARBON RESERVOIRS - A numerical procedure is disclosed to improve the prediction of heat fronts when simulating hot fluid injection in viscous hydrocarbon reservoirs. The mathematical model is composed of the conventional governing equations that describe multiphase fluid flow and energy balance. The reservoir geometry can be partitioned into a regular Cartesian grid or an irregular corner-point geometry grid. The numerical procedure uses the finite different (FD) method to solve the flow equations and the discontinuous Galerkin (DG) method to solve the energy balance equation. The proposed FD-DG method is an alternative to the traditional solution procedure that uses the FD method to solve both the flow and the energy equations. The traditional method has the deficiency that it may require excessive number of grid cells to achieve acceptable resolution of the heat fronts. The proposed FD-DG method significantly reduces numerical dispersion near discontinuities in the solution of the energy equation and therefore provides a better capture of the heat fronts. To obtain a desired accuracy in the energy equation solution, the FD-DG method can be orders of magnitude faster than the traditional method. The superiority of the FD-DG method is that it converges on coarser grids while the traditional method requires much finer grids. | 2013-02-14 |

The probabilistic model is derived from a first probabilistic representation of each selected feature, generated to represent the uncertainty in locating the feature and the uncertainty in observing the feature in a range profile. Classification is achieved by calculating, for each probabilistic model, the probability that the model would generate a given sequence of distances between observed backscatter events in a given range profile. The model generating the given sequence with the greatest probability identifies the object likely to have produced the given range profile. Preferably, the probabilistic models comprise Hidden Markov Models (HMMs). | 2013-02-14 |

In a typical configuration, the community rating of an individual reflect the individual's reputation in the electronic community (e.g. feedback rating) as well as the reputations of the users the individual sponsors and the reputations of each user they sponsor, and so on. Various methodologies are provided for determining a community rating, such as aggregating feedback ratings, or weighting or thresholding these feedback ratings. | 2013-02-14 |
| 20130041718 | METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR SELECTING A SYNCHRONOUS OR ASYNCHRONOUS PROCESS TO DETERMINE A FORECAST - In accordance with embodiments, there are provided mechanisms and methods for selecting a synchronous or asynchronous process to determine a forecast. These mechanisms and methods for such synchronous/asynchronous process selection can enable embodiments to determine forecasts for multiple users (e.g. with hierarchical relationships, etc.) over an arbitrary time interval. The ability of embodiments to provide forecasts that involve such a large amount of data in an effective way can enable forecasting that was otherwise infeasible due to resource limitations. | 2013-02-14 |
| 20130041719 | METHODS AND APPARATUS TO GENERATE SMART TEXT - Methods and apparatus to generate a performance metric are disclosed. An example method includes identifying a baseline volume and an incremental volume for a first time-frame and a second time-frame, calculating whether a market volume change direction is identical between the baseline volume and the incremental volume during the first time-frame and the second time-frame, and assigning a market change descriptor to the performance metric based on the calculated change direction. | 2013-02-14 |
| 20130041720 | SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR REAL-TIME SATISFACTION SURVEY FEEDBACK - The present disclosure relates to a system and method for providing virtually real-time or near real-time satisfaction survey feedback received from a customer to allow for corrective action to be taken by an appropriate business agent almost immediately, or preferably within a few hours of the completion of a survey, before the customer has any significant opportunity to provide negative feedback via online media or other communication channels. In an embodiment, the present system and method provides an interactive electronic survey platform—for example a touch screen display or kiosk set up near the lobby of a hotel, or on a mobile platform such as a tablet at a restaurant table—offering an incentive for customers to complete a short interactive satisfaction survey. | 2013-02-14 |
| 20130041721 | ART EVALUATION ENGINE AND METHOD FOR AUTOMATIC DEVELOPMENT OF AN ART INDEX - A method for automatic development of an art index from repeat sales information and single sales information comprising the steps of: exploring and identifying comparables for individual artists, ensuring that said comparables are of acceptable level of homogeneity, especially regarding tests by art analyst and statistical homogeneity, determining sets of said comparables from information about the artist and/or his/her works, wherein said comparable sets are a group of comparable art objects produced by one artist that have similarities in various attributes, such as year of work, medium, genre, size and/or valuation, correcting of price variations, aberrations and/or outliers of valuation judgements within the comparable sets by using auction catalogues and/or other external sources, reports on provenance, exhibition catalogues, news releases and/or scholarly literature concerning the specific artists and objects, reanalyzing said comparable sets by carrying out an inconsistency check visually and/or in medium, size and price and further correcting price variations, and estimating said art index from said comparable sets. | 2013-02-14 |
| 20130041722 | System and method for computerized resource optimization for insurance related tasks - Disclosed herein are computer-implemented methods, computing systems, and related technologies that may be used for determining the optimal number of Full Time Equivalents (FTEs) that should be engaged by a service provider in order to provide a service to an insurance company. Multiple service level agreements (SLAs) exists between the service provider and the insurance company, each of which indicates that the service provider must complete a given percentage of assigned tasks for the service within a given time period. A resource optimization application (ROA) determines how many FTEs the service provider should employ, in order to complete assigned tasks as required by the SLAs. The ROA determines the number of FTEs based on factors such as an average handling time (AHT) for the tasks, the capacity of the service provider, historical data that describes tasks previously assigned to the service provider, and other factors. | 2013-02-14 |
