20110280545MULTI-CHANNEL PARALLEL DIGITAL VIDEO RECORDER - A multiple channel parallel digital video recorder system records simultaneously and continuously the favorite channels of a user. The recorder system stores programming content for a user to view at a later time. A multimedia control system can be connected to the recorder system and display in a matrix format the stored programming content that is available for review.11-17-2011
20110280546TIME-SHIFTED VIEWING SYSTEM, TIME-SHIFTED VIEWING METHOD, AND TIME-SHIFTED VIEWING APPARATUS AND PROGRAM - A transmitting section of the present invention initiates transmission of a second video continuously after completing transmission of a first video being transmitted, in a case that a reproduction position of the first video being transmitted is beyond an end point of the first video, when a video recording start time of a second video stored in a video storage section and a video recording end time of the first video being transmitted coincide within a predetermined time difference.11-17-2011

20110075985Unified Recording and Pause Buffer Format - A unified recording format allows both recorded programs and paused buffered broadcasts to be stored in memory as a common virtual stream. As content is received on a channel, it is placed into the virtual stream with newer content at the start of the stream and progressively aging content migrating farther downstream. A front section of the stream effectively operates as a pause buffer, as the currently tuned broadcast program is recorded in this section and is responsive to pause/resume commands. Recorded programs are also stored as part of the same virtual stream. Pointers are used to identify the boundaries of the pause buffer, as well as the beginning and end of each recorded program in the virtual stream.03-31-2011
20110103764BROADCAST CONTENT RECORDING AND REPRODUCING SYSTEM - An input unit receives a viewing condition inputted by a user for a received broadcast content. A reproduction unit reproduces the broadcast content which meets the viewing condition while controlling a reproduction rate indicating a reproduction speed of the broadcast content.05-05-2011
20120177341METHOD FOR CONTROLLING A DECODER AND DECODER FOR IMPLEMENTING SAID METHOD - A method for controlling a multimedia decoder that can simultaneously access different programs from different sources and/or of different qualities, wherein the decoder can operate in a multitask mode such that it controls the display and/or recording of a first program simultaneously with the display and/or recording of a second program, wherein the decoder performs the following steps: the step of identifying the resources available for displaying and/or recording programs accessible by the decoder; the step of determining the resources required for displaying and/or recording each of the programs accessible by the decoder; and the step in multitask mode of inhibiting a displaying and/or recording control of one of these programs when the resources required by the ordered program are higher than the available resources of the decoder.07-12-2012
20120087632VIDEO-RECORDING AND REPLAYING APPARATUS, I/O SCHEDULING METHOD, AND PROGRAM - A video-recording and replaying apparatus includes a block device for use as a recording medium for video-recording and a control part, when a plurality of tasks each representing a process in regard to video-recording and replaying on the block device are executed, performing I/O scheduling on the block device by using time slices each predetermined for each of the tasks so that a total amount of I/O data for each of the tasks in each round-robin cycle for the block device is approximately equal.04-12-2012
386237000 Single unit having head with shared read/write operation 1
20120008912TIME-SHIFT BUFFER - A method and system is disclosed for time-shifted access to media content. The time-shifted access may be facilitate with a time-shift buffer and the use of time-shift buffers to mark periods in time from which time-shifted access is to be begin according to triggering events registered at output devices being used to facilitate the time-shifted access.01-12-2012

20110052143Broadcast Reception Apparatus - According to one embodiment, a broadcast reception apparatus includes a first receiver, second receivers, a first controller, and a second controller. A first receiver is configured to switch to a channel as a target and receive a broadcast signal. Second receivers are configured to receive broadcast signals from channels which are set for the second receivers, respectively. A first controller is configured to perform display control to display a video on the basis of the broadcast signal received by the first receiver. A second controller is configured to switch between a first mode performing drive control of operation of the second receivers and performing record control based on the broadcast signals received by the second receivers, and a second mode performing control to stop operation of at least one of the second receivers and performing record control based on any remaining one or ones of the second receivers.03-03-2011
20120148211INTERACTIVE TELEVISION PROGRAM GUIDE WITH SIMULTANEOUS WATCH AND RECORD CAPABILITIES - An interactive television program guide system is provided in which a user may use the program guide to watch one program while simultaneously recording another program without interrupting the recording or viewing process. This interactive television program guide system also allows a user the to utilize all or some of the program guide features while in the watch and record mode depending on the embodiment that is being implemented. Further, this watch and record system may be implemented using a multiple tuner set-top box or a single tuner set-top box with a RF bypass or digital switch. In addition to a set-top box, the system may be implemented using a satellite receiver, an advanced television with a processor and memory, or a computer. The various implementations provide a very versatile watch and record environment for the user.06-14-2012
