20090099835System and method of prioritizing automated translation of communications from a first human language to a second human language - A method of prioritizing the automated translation of communications relating to a predetermined topic includes capturing and inputting into a data processing system a translation-candidate communication rendered in a first human language. A first data set representative of the translation-candidate communication is stored in computer memory and parsed into communication sub-portions. Communication sub-portions are algorithmically selected for translation depending on their relatedness to the predetermined topic as determined by first-language extraction rules. Each selected communication sub-portion is translated to a translated-data-set sub-portion representative of that selected communication sub-portion in the second human language. Translated-data-set sub-portions are subjected to a secondary filtration process in accordance with which their relatedness to the predetermined topic is determined by second-language extraction rules. Those translated-data-set sub-portions determined to contain information sufficiently related to the predetermined topic, or a related sub-topic, are converted to converted-data-set sub-portions representative of the translated-data-set sub-portions in a human-intelligible format and outputted through a machine-to-human interface.04-16-2009
20080281578DOCUMENT TRANSLATION SYSTEM - A document translation system is described. In various embodiments, the document translation system improves translations of text or speech (“documents”) that are performed by computing devices (“machine translations”). Upon translating a document into a target language, the system can provide a user interface containing both the original document and a translated document. The translated document can include portions that are translated automatically by a machine translation service, and other portions that have been amended or modified by users. Upon providing the translated document, the system may receive input from a user describing portions of the translated document that should be modified. These modifications may then be stored in corpora that the document translation system can employ during future requests to translate the document. When multiple modifications are stored, the system may select one of the stored modifications during translation, such as based on the document type, reputation of the user who provided the modification, and so forth. The stored corpora can then be employed to improve future machine translations.11-13-2008
20080288239Localization and internationalization of document resources - Automated localization (translation) and internationalization of document resources may be provided for use by various target user groups requiring different text languages and/or document settings. A document resource including pre-built textual components and document settings and properties is first passed through a translation process for translating any pre-built textual content to one or more target languages. Text strings in the document resource may be extracted, translated and replaced to the document resource. Internationalization processing may then be accomplished wherein default page sizes, margin settings, language reading direction, and other document settings and properties are modified according to each target user group for the document resource. For initial document resource assembly, source files are identified for each component of a given document resource. The source files may be localized and internationalized and then may be used to compile a document resource for each of one or more target user groups.11-20-2008

The automatic post-editor is trained on a sentence aligned parallel corpus created from sentence pairs T′ and T, where T′ is an initial training translation of a source training language text, and T is second, independently derived, training translation of a source training language text.12-31-2009
20090326911MACHINE TRANSLATION USING LANGUAGE ORDER TEMPLATES - Many machine translation scenarios involve the generation of a language translation rule set based on parallel training corpuses (e.g., sentences in a first language and word-for-word translations into a second language.) However, the translation of a source corpus in a source language to a target corpus in a target language involves at least two aspects: selecting elements of the target language to match the elements of the source corpus, and ordering the target elements according to the semantic organization of the source corpus and the grammatic rules of the target language. The breadth of generalization of the translation rules derived from the training may be improved, while retaining contextual information, by formulating language order templates that specify orderings of small sets of target elements according to target element types. These language order templates may be represented with varying degrees of association with the alignment rules derived from the training in order to improve the scope of target elements to which the ordering rules and alignment rules may be applied.12-31-2009
