The valve system may include a manually-controlled air outlet and inlet valve that may be installed on a distal region of a hard socket, and/or an automatic one-way outlet valve. The manually-controlled valve is preferably opened and closed by twisting of a handle portion of the valve system, wherein partial rotation of the handle portion relative to the base portion of the valve system creates slight separation of the handle and base portions to form a gap through which may pass air from the well of the socket. This simple twisting, or partial rotation, provides a valve that stays open hands-free, so that the wearer may open the valve and then use his/her hands to don or doff the prosthesis. The manual valve may include a system for preventing the handle and base from becoming entirely separated during normal use, which preferably is a snap-fit of the base onto the handle that retains the ability of the handle and base to rotate relative to each other, and a stop(s) that limit(s) the amount of relative rotation of the handle and base portions of the valve. Opening and closing of the manual valve may be accomplished by a ramp system, so that, upon rotation of the handle in one direction, the handle comes close to, and seals with, the base, and upon rotation of the handle in the opposite direction, the handle becomes slightly distanced from, and unsealed from, the base.08-06-2009

20100211188Prosthetic socket adjustable test mounting system - A temporary diagnostic prosthetic socket mounting system and kit including a generally circular test mounting block defined by an annular groove and four axial cutouts extending from the lower surface of the block to the upper surface. The axial cutouts are at least as deep as the annular groove. A band extending around the perimeter of the block is provided which spans the axial cutouts, thereby forming a void in the cutouts beneath the tape. The block is secured to a prosthetic diagnostic socket by adhesive with the band extending up over the upper edge of the block and onto the outer surface of the socket. Casting tape is applied over the socket/block joint extending into the groove. After diagnostic fitting and transfer of the alignment, a cast saw can be passed around the joint through the casting tape and into the adhesive between the upper surface of the block and the rounded distal end of the socket. The gap behind the band in the cutouts provides a void space for the saw that avoids damage to the block, and the casting tape is severed and easily removed.08-19-2010

This method of manufacture using aerospace fibers such as graphite or Kevlar, and high performance resins, is used to create a socket which is stronger and lighter weight than conventionally manufactured sockets. Braiding also allows incorporation of woven cloth, tapes and other reinforcements into the braiding process for added strength at selected areas. 20100121464Anti-slip prosthetic attachment system - An anchoring system for a transtibial or transfemoral (above or below the knee) prosthesis. The anchoring system includes a liner for enveloping an amputee limb. The liner has a first strap attached toward an upper end, and a corresponding strap fixedly attached to the distal bottom end of the liner. The anchoring system also includes a containment socket for seating the liner. The containment socket has a pair of slots there through at positions corresponding to the two straps of the liner, respectively. To apply the anchoring system, the patient first applies the liner to his/her limb. The patient pulls down on the lower strap thereby drawing the liner down into the socket until the liner is securely seated in the socket.
