20090023356 | Smoke Effects Generator For A Musical Instrument - An effects generator for a musical instrument, such as an acoustic electric guitar, is disclosed. Such a musical instrument is of the type having a body with at least one internal cavity and at least one sound-producing string. The effects generator comprises a smoke generator that includes a heating wire, a receptacle for holding a quantity of a smoke-producing compound, and a receptacle holder disposed within the at least one cavity of the instrument. A battery is selectively electrically connected to the heating wire of the smoke generator. As such, the heating wire heats the smoke-producing compound to produce smoke emanating from the at least one internal cavity of the instrument. Preferably a switch is electrically disposed between the power source and the heating wire. The body may further includes an aperture opening into the at least one cavity therein, proximate to the receptacle holder, such than an empty receptacle may be replaced easily by grasping the empty receptacle through the aperture and replacing the empty receptacle with a receptacle full of the smoke-producing compound. | 01-22-2009 |

20130217293 | Mechanism for Creating Smoke-Blowing Figurines - The invention is a structural utility in the interior of a hard and nonflammable figurine that results in the manipulation of smoke to create an outpouring of smoke from one or more outlets in the figurine. | 08-22-2013 |
20150065005 | Smoke Emitting Toy - A toy gun in the form of a breech loading rifle is provided which is capable of firing a projectile such as a dart as well as simultaneously or near simultaneously emitting smoke from the muzzle of a barrel of the gun after the dart has been discharged from the muzzle. The toy gun has first and second rechargeable air pumps. A first one of the air pumps automatically discharges stored air into a breech part of the barrel in order to propel a loaded projectile from the gun's barrel. A second one of the air pumps expels stored air through a flow restriction device which doubles up as a pressure switch for actuating a smoke generator located adjacent to the muzzle of the gun. The second air pump also provides a low flow rate of air through the smoke generator to expel smoke from the smoke generator. The second air pump expels stored air much more slowly than the first air pump. The first and second air pumps are simultaneously triggered to release stored air by user actuation of a trigger of the gun. The smoke generator has an outlet in gaseous communication with the muzzle portion of the barrel such that smoke emitted by the generator passes into the muzzle portion of the barrel prior to exhausting from the muzzle. | 03-05-2015 |

20100009591 | Toy Vehicle Having Smoking Tire Function - The embodiments of the invention provide for a toy vehicle having a smoking tire function where during play of the toy vehicle the simulated smoke gives the toy vehicle an appearance of the toy vehicle performing a burnout, such as that which is seen as being performed by high horse powered drift cars, where the simulated smoke is generated by heating of a smoke fluid or through a water fogger. In either case the simulated smoke is released proximate the at least a wheel thereof to give the toy vehicle an appearance of having smoking tires. | 01-14-2010 |
20100015880 | Smoke production system for model locomotive - A smoke production system for a model locomotive capable of accurately simulating the exhaust characteristics of an actual locomotive. The present invention accomplishes this by monitoring the rotation to the flywheel of the electric motor used to drive the drive wheels of the model locomotive. Various devices may be used to monitor the rotation of the flywheel. For example, a magnet is employed on the flywheel and a magnetically-reactive element such as a reed switch or Hall effect sensor is positioned adjacent to the flywheel. Alternatively, an opticoupler or cam may be used to track the rotations of the flywheel. A controller counts the rotations of the flywheel and actuates a smoke production device to emit smoke four discrete times for every rotation of the model locomotive's drive wheel. | 01-21-2010 |
20100062675 | SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR SUBSTANTIALLY SYNCHRONIZING SOUND AND SMOKE IN A MODEL VEHICLE - A system and method is provided for substantially synchronizing sound and smoke, or the like, in a model train or other model vehicle. In one embodiment of the present invention, a sensor is configured to send a signal periodically to a smoke generating device and a controller, wherein the signal is used by the smoke generating device to produce a particular quantity of smoke. The controller is then configured to receive a signal from a motor, wherein the signal includes information (e.g., a count) that can be used to identify a rotational position of the motor, or a rotational position of an axle in communication with the motor. The controller then uses the signal from the sensor and the signal from the motor to estimate (or predict) a transmission time of a next (or second) signal from the sensor, wherein the next (or second) signal is used by the smoke generating device to produce a next (or second) production of smoke. In one embodiment of the present invention, the controller does this by (i) using the signal from the sensor to identify a first count from the motor, and (ii) using the first count from the motor (e.g., together with “chuffs” per revolution) to identify a second count from the motor, wherein the second count corresponds to a transmission time of a next (or second) signal from the sensor. The controller then uses the “estimated time” to transmit a signal to the sound generating device, wherein the signal is used by the sound generating device to produce a “chuffing” sound that is substantially synchronized to a next (or second) production of smoke. | 03-11-2010 |
20100323578 | SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR REDIRECTING SMOKE EFFECTS IN A MODEL VEHICLE - A system and method is provided for selectively directing smoke in a model train or other model vehicle. In one embodiment, a directional fan is used to guide smoke to one of at least two output ports. When the fan is rotated in a first direction, air is drawn in through a first port and smoke is directed out of a second port. When the fan is reversed, the flow of air is reversed to draw air in through the second port and to direct smoke out through the first port. In another embodiment, multiple blower units are connected to a common smoke generating unit and can be selectively operated to direct smoke to plural locations within a model vehicle. The volume an speed of smoke can be variably controlled, and audio effects can be synchronized with smoke visual effects for added realism. | 12-23-2010 |
20120094570 | SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR DIRECTING SMOKE IN A MODEL TRAIN SYSTEM - A system and method is provided for directing smoke in a model train. In one embodiment of the present invention, the model train includes a smoke chamber physically connected to a smoke unit. The smoke unit functions to produce smoke, which is then provided to at least one smoke chamber. Each smoke chamber includes at least one exhaust opening and a valve for selectively moving smoke out of the exhaust opening(s). For example, the smoke chamber may include an intake opening, at least two exhaust openings, a piston core and a piston driven by a drive rod. By moving the drive rod, the piston can be moved through the piston core, resulting in the movement of smoke out of the exhaust openings. By positioning the exhaust openings near the wheels of the model train, the smoke system can be used to simulate steam escaping from valves or cylinders. | 04-19-2012 |
