In more detail, a pouch type secondary battery includes an electrode assembly, a pouch type battery case, a sealing part, and an exhaust part, wherein the exhaust part is formed to have adhesion weaker than that of the sealing part to release the sealing of the exhaust part when the pouch type secondary battery is swollen due to high pressure generated within the secondary battery under the conditions of overheating such as overcharging, internal short, and the like, thereby discharging materials in the pouch type secondary battery to the outside so as to secure safety of the pouch type secondary battery.05-16-2013
20080274396Battery Vent - A battery vent comprising a chamber bounded by a sidewall and a plate. In the chamber, a frit housing has a retainer wall extending from the plate into the chamber to an open retainer wall lower face. A vent tube extends outwardly from the frit housing and has a vent channel which is open to the retainer wall inside face. A frit is applied over the open retainer wall lower face and secured thereto by over molding.11-06-2008
20130196195BATTERY CELL CARRIER - The present disclosure is directed at a cell carrier, a stack that includes multiple cell carriers, and a method for assembling the stack. The cell carrier has a rigid backing and bus bar supports that are rigidly mounted to the rigid backing The bus bar supports have sockets positioned to receive fasteners for securing bus bars to the bus bar supports. A battery cell that has electrodes in the form of pliable tabs can be secured to the cell carrier by, for example, adhering the cell body to the rigid backing The cell tabs are secured between the bus bars and the bus bar supports when bus bars are fastened to the bus bar supports, and the rigidly mounted supports help prevent relative motion between the cell body and tabs. This helps prevent the cell tabs from ripping or tearing when the battery cell is subjected to vibrations during use.08-01-2013
20130202927PRISMATIC BATTERY HAVING ELECTROLYTE INJECTION-HOLE CAPABLE OF PROVIDING EXCELLENT SEALING ABILITY - Disclosed herein is a secondary battery having an electrode assembly mounted in a prismatic container, wherein the inside of an electrolyte injection hole formed in a base plate mounted to an open upper end of the prismatic container includes an upper part having a chamfered structure in which the diameter of the electrolyte injection hole is gradually decreased downward and a lower part having a non-chamfered structure continuously formed from the chamfered structure, and, when a sealing member is pressed into the electrolyte injection hole, the sealing member deformed into a shape corresponding to the electrolyte injection hole comes into tight contact with the chamfered structure due to shear stress between the chamfered structure and the sealing member and forms a sealed state due to frictional interaction between the non-chamfered structure and the sealing member. Consequently, it is possible to reduce a defect rate of secondary batteries and to improve sealability of the electrolyte injection hole without welding.08-08-2013
20130202926BATTERY PACK - There is provided a battery pack capable of improving the safety thereof. The battery pack includes a battery array, side plates, a top cover and end plates. The battery array includes a plurality of battery cells aligned in a first direction. The battery array is formed as a hexahedron having (1-1)th, (1-2)th, (2-1)th (2-2)th, (3-1)th and (3-2)th planes. The top cover is provided to the (1-1)th plane of the battery array, and has reinforcing frames respectively formed at both sides based on the first direction. The reinforcing frame includes vertical and horizontal frames. The end plates are provided to the (3-1)th and (3-2)th planes, respectively. The end plates are fixed to the top cover. A holding part pressing both sides of the top cover on the (1-1)th plane are provided to the side plates, respectively.08-08-2013
