20120230167 | MICROWAVE ASSISTED MAGNETIC HEAD AND MAGNETIC DISK DEVICE - A microwave assisted magnetic head of the present invention includes: at least two or more auxiliary coils that are arranged in a periphery of a writing main pole; and microwave current supply means that applies microwave currents to the at least two or more auxiliary coils. The at least two or more auxiliary coils respectively include linear body parts linearly arranged on an ABS side, two of the linear body parts of the at least two or more auxiliary coils are arranged in a substantially orthogonal positional relationship, and the microwave current supply means is configured such that the microwave current supply means changes phase differences of the microwave currents applied respectively to the at least two or more auxiliary coils. Therefore, the microwave current can be easily controlled, and thus, a circularly polarized magnetic field with high magnetization inversion efficiency can be generated as an assistance magnetic field. | 09-13-2012 |

The magnetic recording system includes an electric field applying device applying an electric field and a magnetic field applying device applying a magnetic field to the recording medium, a movement mechanism that moves them to an arbitrary position. The magnetic recording system has a function of controlling an applying direction of at least one of the electric field applying device and the magnetic field applying device, and the recording head is arranged at a position facing the recording medium. | 10-24-2013 |
20150380038 | MAGNETIC DATA STORAGE USING INDUCED STRAIN OF A MAGNETOSTRICTIVE MATERIAL - Acoustically assisted magnetic recording can be used in a hard disk drive or a solid state medium. In the described embodiments, otherwise unwriteable high-coercivity media are made amenable to recording by lowering their coercivity via strain induced by acoustic waves. The use of acoustic waves temporarily and locally reduces the magnetic field required to record information on a magnetic recording medium. The process makes use of the magnetostrictive property of a magnetic material by which the magnetic anisotropy of the material is changed by strain. The result of such a change is a reduction in the coercive field, i.e., the magnetic field required to reverse the magnetization direction. Because acoustic waves cause strain, the passage of an acoustic wave through a magnetic material can be used to reduce its coercive field. | 12-31-2015 |
