20090129208 | APPARATUS, SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR KEEPING TIME - According to one aspect, the invention provides a method of synchronizing a clock included in a device. According to one embodiment, the method includes acts of: (a) receiving with the device a clock signal including a time standard provided by a reference clock; (b) determining an elapsed time since a prior receipt of a clock signal including a time standard provided by the reference clock; (c) determining an error between a time provided by the clock signal received in act (a) and a time maintained by the clock included in the device; and (d) adjusting the time maintained by the clock included in the device to correct for the error determined by act (c), where the reference clock comprises an atomic clock. | 05-21-2009 |
20100103781 | TIME SYNCHRONIZATION IN CLUSTER SYSTEMS - Techniques are described herein for synchronizing cluster time. According to one technique, a master node is appointed in a cluster. Other “slave” nodes periodically synchronize their clocks with the master node. To synchronize its clock with the master node, a slave node sends a timestamped message to the master node, which also timestamps the message and sends the message back to the slave node, which then timestamps the message again. Based on the timestamps, the slave node is able to determine the difference between the master node's clock's time and slave node's clock's time, compensating for the message travel time between master node and slave node. Depending on various circumstances, and based on the determined difference, the slave node adjusts its clock so that the time indicated by the slave node's clock at least begins to approach more closely the time indicated by the master node's clock. | 04-29-2010 |

20090196123 | Collaborative Appointment and Reminder System - An appointment system for synchronizing disparate electronic calendars of a plurality of remote electronic devices is disclosed. The system includes a primary electronic calendar having a memory for storing information from the remote electronic devices. A processing means processes the information received from remote electronic devices that are connected to an electronic network. The primary electronic calendar utilizes a remote device access means to access each remote electronic device. The primary electronic calendar reads from and writes to each remote electronic calendar through one of the at least one remote device translation means thereby synchronizing the electronic calendar of each remote electronic device with the primary electronic calendar. Appointments, events and reminder maintained on any one of the electronic devices are displayed on all the remote electronic devices associated with the electronic network. | 08-06-2009 |

20080259735 | Time control apparatus and method of terminal - A time control apparatus, which is not equipped with an auxiliary batter for real time control, includes a time information memory for storing real time information updated for a user; and a real time controller, in response to powering on, if the real time information stored in the time information memory is earlier than time information of the real time controller, displaying the real time information of the real time controller to a user and simultaneously updating the real time information in the time information memory without performing a time setting operation. It is possible to discern between a powering-off case where the battery is not removed from the terminal and a powering-off case where the battery is removed from the terminal in order to avoid a time setting operation that is unnecessary to the user. | 10-23-2008 |
20090016170 | COMMUNICATION APPARATUS - A communication apparatus having a main battery for performing main operations of the communication apparatus so as to connect or remove from the device freely. The communication apparatus includes a clock unit and a control unit. The clock unit configured to count a current time by using power supplied by the main battery, and configured to acquire the current time from a base station based on the main battery was connected after the main battery was removed the communication apparatus. And the control unit configured to control so as to set the current time acquired by the clock unit as the current time counted. | 01-15-2009 |
20090028006 | Clock Setup Over a Network - The present invention provides apparatuses and methods for updating a target device from a clock device through a network. The clock device obtains a time value from a clock source and sends the time value to a target device. A node within the network determines a time delay, adjusts the time value in accordance with the time delay, and sends the adjusted time value to the target device. The node may determine a time delay from an internal timer or from a measurement message when adjusting the time value. The clock device may send a subsequent time update message to the target device if the target device does not acknowledge reception of a time update. The clock device may also send a time update message to a target device when a status change of daylight savings time occurs and obtain a subsequent time value from a clock source. | 01-29-2009 |
