20110267920 | Method and Apparatus for Controlling Residence Time Distribution in Continuous Stirred-Tank Reactors - The present invention includes an apparatus and method for narrowing the residence time distribution of a continuous stirred-tank reactor, or CSTR, which includes the optional procedures of: decreasing the vertical cross-sectional area of the reactor's agitator blades; decreasing the RPM of the agitator blades; and increasing the reactor's L/D ratio. The CSTR can be used in the production of monovinylidene aromatic polymers, such as high impact polystyrene. | 11-03-2011 |
20120134231 | DEVICE FOR AUTOMATIC ELIMINATION OF FIBERS ON THE IMPELLER OF A MIXER IN WASTEWATER TREATMENT PROCESS - A method and apparatus is disclosed for maintaining fluid in suspension in a mixing tank including particles includes providing a reversible mixer, rotating the mixer in a normal direction in which particles buildup on the mixer, and, rotating the mixer in an abnormal direction to shed the particles from the mixer. | 05-31-2012 |
20130329518 | Post/Pedestal-Mounted IBC Mixing/Blending Machine - A blending machine, for homogenizing materials deposited within an intermediate bulk container (IBC), includes: a frame; a drive motor; a clamp disk rotatably supported by the frame and coupled to the drive motor to drive disk rotation; first and second jaw clamps movably mounted to the frame; and a drive mechanism to drive the jaw clamps to translate toward each other and rotatably secure the IBC's boom to the rotatable clamp disk. A clutch, a torque limiter, and a limit switch limit the pressure applied by the clamps, and the extent of their travel to optimize clamping and rotatability. The blending machine is moveably mounted to a pedestal, and elevated by an actuator. A blending bar within the IBC is coupled through the boom to the clamp disk, and driven to rotate to blend the materials, in addition to mixing by rotation of the ICB. | 12-12-2013 |

20100214868 | Agitator and Agitation Method - It is an object of the present invention to provide an agitator equipped with a bottom paddle that has favorable agitation performance also in a streamline flow region of low Re number and to provide an agitation method. According to the agitator and the agitation method of the present invention, an object is agitated within an agitation tank by the use of an agitator that includes a rotating shaft that is disposed outside of the tank along the axis of a vertically oriented cylindrical agitation tank to be rotatable, and a flat agitation impeller made up of a bottom paddle, which lower end edge is formed to be of a shape that conforms with a tank bottom wall such that a specified clearance is formed between the lower end edge and the tank bottom wall, the bottom paddle being provided with a communicating portions at a positions away from the lower end edge upward by a specified amount for communicating between the front side and the rear side of the bottom paddle, and being mounted to the rotating shaft so as to locate close to the tank bottom wall and extend towards a sidewall of the tank. | 08-26-2010 |

20080225637 | Agitating Canister for Viscous Fluids Dispensed from Multiple Fluid Dispensers - An improved canister assembly for a multi-fluid dispenser is shown and described. The canister assembly comprises an annular outer shell with an outer cylindrical wall connected to a bottom which, in turn, is connected to an inner cylindrical wall that serves as a standpipe. The bottom includes an outlet connected to a pump A hollow agitator shaft slides over the inner standpipe and includes a plurality of outwardly extending blades for stirring or “agitating” the fluid. An annular screen element is disposed below the bottom end of the agitator shaft. Beneath the annular screen element is a lower agitator blade element The lower blade element and the lower end of the agitator shaft are snap-fitted together with the annular screen element sandwiched therebetween. The screen element includes a cylindrical shell with the annular screen disposed upwards from the lower end of the cylindrical shell so that the screen is spaced above the bottom wall and to make room for the lower blade element. Blades disposed on the lower end of the agitator shaft scrape or brush a top surface of the annular screen and the blades of the lower blade element scrape or brush a bottom surface of the annular screen. Sufficient space is provided between annular screen and the bottom outlet to prevent clogging. A deflector cap is provided for a top end of the hollow agitator shaft to prevent spillage of fluid material through the agitator shaft when the canister is refilled. The deflector cap can also be snap-fitted to the agitator shaft. A centralizer is also provided for holding the agitator shaft in place during refilling of the canister. | 09-18-2008 |
