20080284919 | Fully integrated tuner architecture - An integrated receiver with channel selection and image rejection substantially implemented on a single CMOS integrated circuit is described. A receiver front end provides programmable attenuation and a programmable gain low noise amplifier. Frequency conversion circuitry advantageously uses LC filters integrated onto the substrate in conjunction with image reject mixers to provide sufficient image frequency rejection. Filter tuning and inductor Q compensation over temperature are performed on chip. The filters utilize multi track spiral inductors. The filters are tuned using local oscillators to tune a substitute filter, and frequency scaling during filter component values to those of the filter being tuned. In conjunction with filtering, frequency planning provides additional image rejection. The advantageous choice of local oscillator signal generation methods on chip is by PLL out of band local oscillation and by direct synthesis for in band local oscillator. The VCOs in the PLLs are centered using a control circuit to center the tuning capacitance range. A differential crystal oscillator is advantageously used as a frequency reference. Differential signal transmission is advantageously used throughout the receiver. | 11-20-2008 |
20090115914 | METHOD FOR ESTIMATING FREQUENCY OFFSETS AND FREQUENCY OFFSET ESTIMATION CIRCUIT THEREOF - A method for estimating frequency offsets is disclosed. The method includes shifting a target signal from a first specific frequency band to a second specific frequency band to generate a pre-offset signal according to a frequency shifting direction, performing a specific filtering operation upon the pre-offset signal to generate a filtered pre-offset signal, shifting the filtered pre-offset signal from the second specific frequency band to a base band to generate a base-band (BB) signal according to the frequency shifting direction, and performing a frequency offset estimation upon the base-band signal. The target signal complies with a specific TV format. The specific TV format is an advanced television system committee (ASTC) format or a digital multimedia broadcast-terrestrial/handheld (DMB-T/H) format. | 05-07-2009 |
20100053470 | ACTIVE DISTRIBUTED SIGNAL SPLITTING APPARATUS - An active distributed signal splitting apparatus has an architecture conducive for cost-effective expandability, and provides improved features including, for example, independent frequency selection for output signals. According to an exemplary embodiment, the apparatus includes a source of an input signal and a plurality of output points. A signal splitter including a field effect transistor is coupled between the source of the input signal and the plurality of output points. One of the output points associated with the field effect transistor includes a filter. | 03-04-2010 |

20100283918 | APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR ESTIMATING CARRIER FREQUENCY ERROR - A receiver is an ATSC receiver having at least two modes of operation. In a first mode of operation the ATSC receiver determines an initial carrier frequency offset with respect to a carrier frequency in the received signal as a function of a field sync signal in the received signal. In a second mode of operation, the ATSC receiver tracks a carrier frequency in a received signal using a carrier tracking loop. | 11-11-2010 |
20100289967 | BROADCAST RECEIVER - In a channel search performed first after the installation of a broadcast receiver, a switch is switched to each of an attenuator ATT | 11-18-2010 |
20110007226 | ACTIVE SUPPRESSION BY TV OF WHITE SPACE DEVICE INTERFERENCE - A digital TV (DTV) incorporates a TV white space device capable of operating on plural TV frequencies and responsive to the DTV processor to send a signal to an interfering white space device nearby the DTV that is interfering with a TV channel being presented on the TV. The signal sent from the TV white space device to the interfering white space device alters operation of the interfering white space device so as to reduce if not eliminate the interference. | 01-13-2011 |
20110043710 | WHITE SPACE SPECTRUM SENSOR FOR TELEVISION BAND DEVICES - A television band device has DTV pilot signal detection logic that generates DTV pilot signal detection decisions associated with a monitored television channel. A wireless microphone detection logic generates wireless microphone detection decisions associated with the monitored television channel. A sensing manager receives DTV pilot signal detection decisions and the wireless microphone detection decisions and analyzes at least one the respective decisions to determine whether the monitored television channel is available white space. | 02-24-2011 |
