20100123787IMAGE PICKUP APPARATUS AND CONTROL METHOD THEREOF - In an image pickup apparatus in which image stabilization is performed based on shake sensor and movement-vector-obtaining method which can perform accurate blur correction since shake components difficult to be detected by shake sensor can be detected by the movement-vector-obtaining method, the image blur due to high frequency vibration such as vehicle vibration cannot be corrected by the movement vector in low-frame-rate shooting since the detectable frequency band narrows in high frequency. Therefore, it is necessary to optimize the combination of blur information from the angular velocity sensor and from the movement vector, according to the frequency band detectable by the movement vector depending on change in frame rate. The combination ratio of blur correction based on blur information from angular velocity sensor, acceleration sensor and blur correction based on movement vector is determined depending on frequency detectable by the movement vector which inevitably changes depending on frame rate.05-20-2010

First, a horizontal motion area of the horizontal line is detected according to differences between corresponding target scan lines in adjacent fields. Next, the horizontal line within a horizontal motion area in a current field and in a previous field are respectively detected. Then, the horizontal motion of the horizontal line is detected if the horizontal line is detected in both the current field and the previous field. Finally, pixels of the horizontal line in the current field are set as static pixels and data of the horizontal line is calculated through de-interlacing of corresponding horizontal lines in the previous field and in a next field if the horizontal motion of the horizontal line is detected. As a result, the flickers occurred in the generated field data can be removed and the quality of vision can be improved.07-15-2010

20110058050METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR MOTION BLUR AND GHOSTING PREVENTION IN IMAGING SYSTEM - A method and apparatus for motion blur and ghosting prevention in imaging system is presented. A residue image is computed by performing spatial-temporal filter with a set of absolute image difference of image pairs from input images. A noise adaptive pixel threshold is computed for every pixel based on noise statistics of image sensor. The residue image and the noise adaptive pixel threshold are used to create a motion masking map. The motion masking map is used to represent motion and non-motion pixels in pixels merging. The pixels merging step is performed to generate an output image by considering the motion pixels where the motion pixels are performed separately. The resulting output image having no or less motion blur and ghosting artifacts can be obtained, even the input images having different degree of motion blur between each of the image, while the complexity is low. It is preferred that the current invention is applied in the Bayer raw domain. The benefit is reduced computation and memory because only 1 color component is processed for each pixel. Another benefit is higher signal fidelity because processing in the Bayer raw domain is unaffected by demosaicing artifacts, especially along edges. However, the current invention can also be applied in RGB domain.03-10-2011
20110058049Real-Time Image Stabilization - An apparatus and method for stabilizing image frames in a video data stream. A weighted average or centroid of the intensity or hue associated with pixels vs. the horizontal and vertical position of each pixel is calculated for a reference frame in the video data stream. This image frame is then translated so that the centroid of the subsequent frame and the centroid of the reference frame coincide, reducing artifacts from shaking of the video capture device. Alternatively, the video stream frames may be divided into tiles and centroids calculated for each tile. The centroids of the tiles of a subsequent frame are curve fit to the centroids of tiles in a reference frame. An affine transform is then performed on the subsequent frame to reduce artifacts in the image from movements of the video capture device.03-10-2011

20110234823IMAGE PROCESSING APPARATUS AND METHOD OF CONTROLLING THE SAME - The correction amount of an aberration caused in each pixel of the region by the optical system is calculated. A predetermined number of peripheral pixels center on a position apart from the pixel by the distance corresponding to the calculated aberration correction amount are multiplied by interpolation coefficients obtained from an interpolation function and added, thereby deriving the pixel value at the pixel position after correction. If the predetermined number of peripheral pixels around the position apart by the distance corresponding to the calculated aberration correction amount are not present in the readout region, aberration correction is implemented by changing the interpolation function. More specifically, the interpolation function is changed so as to make the frequency response behavior of the interpolation function more moderate than that of the interpolation function that gives the interpolation coefficients to multiply the predetermined number of peripheral pixels and used in the correction processing.09-29-2011
20120287294IMAGE PROCESSING APPARATUS, IMAGE PICKUP APPARATUS, IMAGE PROCESSING METHOD, AND PROGRAM - There is provided an image processing apparatus including an HDR (High Dynamic Range) processing unit inputting images picked up while exposure control that changes an exposure time is being carried out with a predetermined spatial period and a predetermined temporal period on pixels that compose an image sensor, and carrying out image processing. The HDR processing unit generates a first combined image by combining pixel values of a plurality of images with different sensitivities generated by an interpolation process using a plurality of consecutively picked-up images, generates a second combined image by combining pixel values of a plurality of images with different sensitivities generated by an interpolation process that uses a single picked-up image, and generates an HDR image by executing a pixel value blending process on the first combined image and the second combined image in accordance with a blending ratio calculated in accordance with movement detection information.11-15-2012
20120013752IMAGE PROCESSING DEVICE AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING THE SAME - An image processing device calculates a coordinate transformation coefficient for each of a plurality of regions, and, for at least one point of interest in a local region, calculates a correction amount that is used when blur in a target image is corrected using a coordinate transformation coefficient for the local region and a correction amount that is used when the blur in the target image is corrected using a coordinate transformation coefficient for a region neighboring the local region. In this case, if the correction amount difference does not fall within a predetermined limit value, a coordinate transformation coefficient is newly obtained for each of the plurality of regions including the local region so that the correction amount difference falls within the predetermined limit value, and the target image is corrected for each region using the newly obtained coordinate transformation coefficient.01-19-2012
20120019679IMAGING APPARATUS - In an imaging apparatus, a control unit can operate in one of a first mode which corresponds to an image capturing mode and which controls an image-blur correcting unit, and a second mode corresponding to a playback mode. When the image capturing mode is switched to the playback mode, the control unit operates in the first mode during a predetermined time after switching to the playback mode, and then operates in the second mode after the predetermined time period has elapsed. This makes it possible to immediately obtain an anti-shake effect even if the playback mode is switched to the image capturing mode.01-26-2012
20120019678IMAGE PROCESSING APPARATUS AND CONTROL METHOD THEREFOR - An image processing apparatus sets one of a plurality of obtained images as a reference image, and detects a motion vector relative to the reference image for the other images. A scalar amount of the detected motion vector is compared with a threshold value representing an image displacement limit for combining an image with the reference image, and whether a condition for combining with the reference image is satisfied is determined. If the condition is satisfied, a corresponding image is moved to cancel the detected motion vector and combined with the reference image, and an image in which displacement between images has been corrected is output. The threshold value is changed by a control unit depending on an image-capturing setting set when the plurality of images are captured, the condition of an object image in the plurality of captured images, or the like.01-26-2012
