20090040180HANDHELD ELECTRONIC DEVICE INCLUDING A VARIABLE SPEED INPUT APPARATUS AND ASSOCIATED METHOD - An improved handheld electronic device and method provide an input apparatus having a number of input members, at least a portion of the input members being movable among an unactuated position, a first actuated position, and a second actuated position in order to provide input. The improved method of enabling input into the handheld electronic device includes detecting a first input from a first input member, responsive to the first input, performing a first navigational function, such as a scrolling operation, at a first speed, detecting a second input form the first input member and, responsive to the second input, performing the first navigational function at a second speed, the second speed being different (e.g., greater) than the first speed. The input apparatus may include a substantially sealable, resilient membrane with the input members being disposed on the resilient membrane in order to provide an improved, ruggedized input apparatus.02-12-2009
20100177042Method for aiding control of cursor movement through a trackpad - A method for aiding control of cursor movement through a trackpad includes a step of detecting finger touch conditions on the trackpad to control operation modes for cursor movement on a screen. The finger touch conditions are set at least in a first condition and a second condition. In the first condition the trackpad is touched by one finger, and the cursor movement on the screen is controlled in a relative movement operation mode. It the second condition the trackpad is touched in fashions other than the first condition (such as touching the trackpad with two fingers or depressing the trackpad with a selected force), and the cursor movement on the screen is controlled in an automatic movement operation mode. Through the method of the invention the cursor on the screen can be quickly moved to a targeted position without overtaxing user's fingers.07-15-2010
20100265175CONTROL APPARATUS, INPUT APPARATUS, CONTROL SYSTEM, CONTROL METHOD, AND HANDHELD APPARATUS - [Object] To provide a control apparatus, an input apparatus, a control system, a control method, and a handheld apparatus that are capable of preventing a deviation between a display position of a pointer and a relative position of the input apparatus when the input apparatus is moved out of a screen from an end portion of the screen, and with which a user can obtain an intuitional operational feeling.10-21-2010
20100177041Method of controlling cursor with multiple and variable speeds through a trackpad - A method of controlling cursor with multiple and variable speeds through a trackpad aims to be used on a system that controls a cursor on a screen through a trackpad by transforming user's finger position movement vector to a screen cursor position movement vector. Depending on finger touch position and depressing condition of the trackpad, at least an ON condition and an OFF condition are generated, and different alterations of depressing time and finger movement distance are formed. Selected speed parameters can be derived through at least two transformation equations. Multiply the speed parameters and finger coordinate alteration vector, the screen cursor movement vector can be obtained. Thus users can switch different cursor movement speeds and control mouse button function according to requirements to facilitate cursor control.07-15-2010
20100295785INTERACTIVE SYSTEM AND OPERATING METHOD THEREOF - An integrative image system includes an image display, a first input device, a second input device and a host. When at least one key of the first input device is pressed, the first input device sends a control signal to the host to enable the host to compare a characteristic parameter detected by the second input device with a plurality of predetermined rules and to control the image display to execute a corresponding function according to the predetermined rule that the characteristic parameter matches. The present invention further provides an operating method of an interactive image system.11-25-2010
20100315339INPUT APPARATUS, CONTROL APPARATUS, CONTROL SYSTEM, CONTROL METHOD, AND HANDHELD APPARATUS - An input apparatus, a control apparatus, a control system including those apparatuses, and a control method therefor with which a user can feel a linearity between a movement of the input apparatus and that of a pointer and an accurate pointing operation is possible are provided. An MPU of an input apparatus variably controls a gain value in a range from first threshold value to a second threshold value or first range, in which the input apparatus is within a low-velocity range, and controls the gain value to be constant in a range exceeding the second threshold value second range. The gain value is a value multiplied to a velocity value of the input apparatus that is obtained by an operation, the velocity value being obtained through detection of a movement of the input apparatus. Accordingly, in a relatively-low-velocity range, a pointer velocity value becomes smaller by a multi-degree function as movements of the input apparatus and a pointer on a screen become slower. As a result, accurate pointing becomes possible. Moreover, since a linearity is obtained when the input apparatus is in a relatively-high-velocity range, a user can obtain a linear operational feeling.12-16-2010
20120007805TOUCH SCREEN CAPABLE OF DISPLAYING A POINTER - A touch screen including a display unit on which a pointer is displayed and a touch-sensing unit mounted on the display unit to generate a display position signal of the pointer when brought into contact with a separate contact medium. The display unit changes the display position of the pointer in accordance with the drag direction of the contact medium when the contact medium, which stays in contact with the touch-sensing unit, is dragged. Accordingly, the pointer being displayed is movable, and the moving speed and migration length of the pointer can be adjusted according to the selection of a user to achieve improved convenience in use. The touch screen may simplify structure and achieve aesthetic enhancement by eliminating the necessity of a touch pad for moving the pointer.01-12-2012
20100007605POINTING DEVICE - A pointing device includes an operation body that operates a cursor moving on a display screen, a detection unit that detects an operating force applied to the operation body, a cursor control unit that generates cursor movement data according to the operating force, a communication control unit that outputs the cursor movement data to the outside, and a central control unit that controls the operation of the units. The cursor control unit includes a cursor-speed determining unit and a recording unit. The cursor-speed determining unit determines cursor moving speed in an X-Y plane direction by a predetermined reference function from an operating force in an X-Y plane direction and an operating force in a perpendicular z axis direction perpendicular to the X-Y plane direction that are detected by the detection unit. The recording unit stores the reference function. The cursor-speed determining unit changes the reference function in accordance with the magnitude of the operating force in the perpendicular Z axis direction, and determines the cursor moving speed in the X-Y plane direction by the changed function.01-14-2010
20090015556METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR INTERACTING WITH AN APPLICATION - Disclosed is a system by which a user of a device may input data. The system provides a method for users to become familiar with standardized entry of data and interacting with a user interface. By restricting the keys used in the system to those universally found on typical mobile phones, users can more rapidly adapt to interacting with various function.01-15-2009
