In turn a complementary spigot ring is provided with a welding lip having an outer diameter that is between the larger and smaller diameters of the bell plate ring. In this way, when the spigot is inserted into the bell it is first guided by the taper and then an interference fit is made between the welding lip and the bell, which ensure continuous weldable contact between the spigot and the bell.
