20090313753 | TOILET ASSIST FOR THE DISABLED - A hydraulically or pneumatically powered toilet assist lift device for use by disabled persons is described that includes a frame having a forward end and a rearward end for placement around a toilet commode, the frame having a lower frame portion for attachment to the floor surface that supports the commode and an upper frame portion hingedly attached to the lower frame portion at the forward end thereof, a toilet seat attached to the upper frame portion, and a pair of hydraulic or pneumatic cylinders interconnecting the upper frame portion with the lower frame portion at the rearward end thereof whereby operation the cylinders rotates the upper frame portion between a lowered position and a raised position. | 12-24-2009 |
20100242168 | Raiser Seat - A raiser seat for assisting a person from a sitting to a standing position is described. The seat comprises: a seat frame ( | 09-30-2010 |
20110162138 | TOILET SEAT LIFT DEVICE - A lift device replaces the toilet seat and seat cover of a conventional toilet. The lift device provides a portion that overlays the toilet bowl area and a portion that supports the forward elements of the assembly. The lift device further provides a toilet seat and a horizontally-disposed seat pivot shaft located to the front of the device. A reversible electric motor with a worm gear drive engages a worm wheel segment attached to the seat pivot shaft for raising and lowering the toilet seat as desired or required. This action assists the user in positioning himself or herself onto the toilet and in lifting the user from the toilet. The raising and lowering movement can also be alternatively actuated by the user or by an assistant-actuated override device, such as when the user is assisted by a care giver. | 07-07-2011 |
20110258771 | SEAT TILT MECHANISM FOR CHAIRS USED BY PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES - This application provides a mechanism that consists of right and left mounting bases that in different embodiments are adapted for mounting on a variety of different chairs. These mechanisms have roller tracks that have been designed on a radius with the fulcrum or pivot point positioned very close to where the center of mass is located, for a wide spectrum of different sized people from children through over-sized adults, to achieve varying degrees of movement. On the inside of the left and right mounting bases are curved slots that are parallel to the curvature of the roller tracks where guide members on the front and rear mounting brackets keep the seat and back rest from coming off the chair. There are front and rear rollers that traverse within the roller tracks that pivot on axles in the front and rear mounting brackets. In the curved slots on the sides are adjustable stop pins that limit the tilt or travel of the seat and back rest. A rack and spur gear mechanism is incorporated to manually adjust the position of the seat and back rest of the chair by rotating a crank handle. By removing the rack and spur gear mechanism and adjusting the stop pins the device will perform as a rocking chair. Turning a friction locking knob will lock the seat and back into a stationary position. | 10-27-2011 |
20110302710 | Toilet seat that lifts - The present invention, hereinafter referred as A Toilet Seat That Lifts, is a specially designed toilet seat featuring an integrated lift mechanism which raises the seat upward and gently sets it atop the bowl after use comprising a hydraulic lift mechanism, incorporated into the base of the unit. This lift features spring loaded hinges which gently raise and lower the seat on demand. This action is automatic, simply by pressing downward on the seat. In another embodiment the Toilet Seat That Lifts is externally connected to a motorized device which controls the lifting action. The Toilet Seat That Lifts, as mentioned, is manually operated, or in the motorized embodiment, operates on conventional 110 volts, 60 hertz power and is connected to a standard power outlet. | 12-15-2011 |
20120054957 | Devices and Methods for Body Elevation - Devices and methods are presented for elevating seat devices. The device allows a vertical and forward motion of a seat from a first position to a second position. Such motion more resembles a natural body motion during the standing motion. A similar but converse motion is also possible with movement from a standing position to a sitting position. | 03-08-2012 |
20130232686 | POWER ASSISTED TOILET SEAT - A power-assisted toilet seat including a lifting and tilting structure that facilitates movement of the toilet seat in a path with a close approximation to the movement of the hips, buttocks, thighs, knees and lower legs, occurring when a person, being supported by the toilet seat, moves between a standing position and a sitting position. Preferably, the power-assisted toilet seat further includes a mechanism for adjusting the height of the seat in the seat's upper most position, to fit the seat's height to the height of the person using the power-assisted toilet seat. The power-assisted toilet seat may further include a device for moving the legs and knees of a sitting person upwardly, thereby bringing the person proximal to a squat position, thereby assisting a person suffering, for example, from constipation. | 09-12-2013 |
20140123382 | Gas spring lift assisted toilet seat assembly - A gas spring lift assisted toilet seat assembly comprising a generally u-shaped first frame mountable to a toilet bowl at the rear of the toilet bowl through existing bolt holes in the toilet bowl and extending a distance below the top of the toilet bowl; a second frame mountable to a toilet seat at the rear thereof, preferably but not necessarily by attachment to a toilet seat hinge subassembly; at least one gas spring configured in a permanently open position and pivotably attached at a first end to that portion of the first frame extending below the top of the toilet bowl and pivotably attached at a second end to the second frame; and at least one bracket mountable to a forward part of the toilet seat for pivotable engagement of the toilet seat with the forward rim of the toilet bowl. | 05-08-2014 |
20140230142 | TOILET SEAT RISER - A toilet seat apparatus is provided to assist a user between a standing position and a seated position. In one embodiment, the toilet seat apparatus includes a base portion configured to mount to a toilet bowl proximate a rear portion of the base portion, a biasing mechanism connected to the base portion proximate a forward portion of the base portion, a seat portion hingedly connected to the forward portion of the base portion, the seat portion configured to rotate between a fully inclined position and a closed position, and at least one strut having a first end and a second end opposite the first end, the first end connected to the seat portion and the second end connected to the biasing mechanism, wherein the biasing device biases the seat portion into the inclined position. | 08-21-2014 |
