20110223368RESEALABLE MULTI-PLY LABEL CONSTRUCTION - Resealable multi-ply labels include a base label ply and an overlaminate for capturing onserts between them. The base label plies carry an adhesive layer on the bottom surface for mounting the resealable multi-ply labels to articles. The base plies each include a hinge area, an attachment area, a tab area, and an intermediate area separating the hinge area from the attachment area. The overlaminates form permanent bonds with both the hinge areas and the tab areas of the base plies and form reusable bonds with the attachment areas of the base plies. The permanently bonded tab areas of the base plies provide access for releasing the overlaminates from the attachment areas of the base plies and exposing the onserts.09-15-2011
20110098026FOOD TRACKING SYSTEM WITH MOBILE PHONE UPLINK - A tracking system for food products includes labeled food product packages and labeled containers for transporting the labeled packages to harvest sites. A data-clearing center receives mobile phone communications from the harvest sites for uploading the container codes. Ancillary information collected from the mobile phone communications including the time, date, location, and phone identification is associated with the container codes for linking the labeled food product packages to details of their harvest.04-28-2011
20100015374LABEL-WRAPPED FOAM CUPS WITH PATTERNED ADHESIVE - A label-wrapped foam cups combines a label in the shape of an annular section with a foam cup having a frusto-conical shape by wrapping the label around a foam cup and securing the label to the foam cup with a patterned adhesive. Text and graphics are printed on a front surface of the labels and a patterned adhesive is printed on a back surface of the labels. The patterned adhesive includes discontinuous deposits of adhesive that bond the label to the foam cup and form corresponding undulations in the front surface of the label. The adhesive pattern can be printed in registry with the text and graphics to provided enhanced visual effects.01-21-2010
20080305217FLAVOR DOTS - An in-line process for packaging flavor pieces includes printing a flavor slurry onto an advancing bottom barrier web in desired shapes and patterns of flavor pieces. A top barrier web is laminated over the printed flavor slurry joining the top and bottom barrier sheets with a series of closed form seals surrounding one or more the flavor pieces. Die cuts through the laminated web separate combinations of the sealed flavor pieces. Gaps in the seals registered with die cuts allow the two barrier webs to be locally separated for accessing the flavor pieces. The bottom barrier web can be affixed to a pressure-sensitive label stock for attaching one or more combinations of sealed flavor pieces to other substrates.12-11-2008
20080241770TOPCOAT FOR INITIALIZING THERMALLY REWRITABLE MEDIA - A thermally rewritable instrument, such as a card, tag, ticket, or label, includes a substrate and a thermosensitive optical recording medium on a front or back face of the substrate. A topcoat in the form of a high-temperature coating is applied over the thermosensitive optical recording medium to substantial advantage. For example, the disclosed topcoat enables the instrument to be thermally printed without producing speckle that would otherwise accompany such thermal printing prior to the thermosensitive optical recording medium being thermally erased. The topcoat as disclosed can also double or more the number of life cycles printing and erasing the underlying thermosensitive optical recording medium can undergo without significant loss of image density. In addition, the disclosed topcoat can be arranged to have an ink-repellant surface to deter the adherence of stray marks or graffiti over the front or back face of the instrument.10-02-2008
20080235093MOBILE PHONE IMAGE PROCESSING FOR PROMOTIONAL ENTERPRISE - A promotional system initiated by capturing encoded images with mobile phones supports interactions between customers and vendors. A host site receives and decodes an information-bearing image captured with a customer's mobile phone. The image preferably appears on a vendor's product or place of business, such as a retail outlet. The host site also acquires information distinguishing the customer, such as the customer's telephone number or location. The information extracted from the information-bearing image is processed together with the information from the customer and a reply is sent to the customer to engage the customer in a promotion.09-25-2008
