20080261891COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS FOR USING SYRINGOPEPTIN 25A AND RHAMNOLIPIDS - The present invention provides a therapeutic composition having at least one syringopeptin and at least one rhamnolipid so that the composition has one or more of the following activities: antibacterial; antifungal; and antitumor activity. The therapeutic composition includes the following: a therapeutically effective amount of a syringopeptin; a therapeutically effective amount of a rhamnolipid; and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier. Additionally, the present invention provides a method for inhibiting or treating cancer or a microbial infection in a subject, wherein the method includes the following: providing a subject in need of inhibition or treatment of cancer or a microbial infection; and administering a therapeutic amount of a therapeutic composition to the subject so as to inhibit or treat the cancer or microbial infection.10-23-2008
20080238919SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR RENDERING OF TEXEL IMAGERY - A point cloud data set may be pre-processed for fast and efficient rendering. The pre-processing may comprise creating an octree hierarchy from the data, generating a level of detail (LOD) representation for each octree node, simplifying the points in each node according to a simplification tolerance, and storing the data structure in a file. Textures associated with each node may be stored in a separate, compressed file, such as a texture atlas. At render time, the octree and LOD hierarchy may be traversed until a suitable LOD node is found. The associated texture data may be accessed, and the node may be rendered as a textured quadrilateral and/or a splat point primitive. In an alternative approach, multiple point cloud datasets may be merged using a global transform function. The merged dataset may be simplified using a hierarchical LOD tree. Textures may be ascribed to each LOD node. The resulting structure may be rendered using splat and billboard point primitives. The model may be streamed over a network to a client where the rendering may take place.10-02-2008
20080222745Colcemid-Treatment of Oocytes to enhance Nuclear Transfer Cloning - Disclosed herein are methods of generating a recipient cytoplast for nuclear cloning with improved developmental capacity. These methods involve the in vitro maturation of an oocyte from a non-human mammal to the pre-MII stage and treatment of the oocyte with a microtubule-inhibiting agent prior to enucleation. The oocyte used to generate the recipient cytoplast can be obtained from a pre-adult or adult non-human mammal. The methods further provide for utilizing the generated recipient cytoplast for nuclear transfer, such as deriving a nuclear transfer embryo or offspring.09-11-2008
