20120010535SYSTEMS, DEVICES, AND METHODS FOR MONITORING AN UNDER FOOT LOAD PROFILE OF A PATIENT DURING A PERIOD OF PARTIAL WEIGHT BEARING - Systems, devices, and methods for measuring an under foot load profile of a patient during a period of partial weight bearing are described. The system may include a walking boot cast. A housing, including an inner surface and an upper surface that cooperate to define an inner cavity, may be oriented with respect to a patient's leg. The upper surface may be slidably received within the inner cavity in a piston and cylinder configuration or may be otherwise configured. The system may include a pressure sensor configured to monitor the load profile of a patient during the desired period of partial weight bearing. The pressure sensor may be located below the upper surface. The system may include a noncompressible force transmitter positioned within the inner cavity and at least partially encapsulating an upper portion of the pressure sensor to transmit pressure within the housing to the pressure sensor.01-12-2012
20120010534SYSTEMS, DEVICES, AND METHODS FOR MONITORING AN UNDER FOOT LOAD PROFILE OF A TIBIAL FRACTURE PATIENT DURING A PERIOD OF PARTIAL WEIGHT BEARING - Systems, devices, and methods for measuring an under foot load profile of a tibial fracture patient during a period of partial weight bearing are described. The system may include a walking boot cast. A housing, including an inner surface and an upper surface that cooperate to define an inner cavity, may be oriented with respect to a patient's tibia. The upper surface is slidably received within the inner cavity in a piston and cylinder configuration.
20120004666STEERABLE SURGICAL SNARE - Apparatus, assemblies, and methods for capturing objects within a body are disclosed. A surgical snare device includes a steerable deflection portion with a steerable distal tip. An interface is linked to the steerable deflection portion to selectively manipulate the distal tip. A snare loop disposed at the distal tip can have a length that remains substantially constant as the distal tip is deflected and the snare loop moves in concert with the distal tip. The distal tip may deflect up to at least one-hundred eighty degrees, while the snare loop moves a corresponding amount. A method includes extending a snare through a body lumen and to a location near an object. The snare may have a loop that changes positions while maintaining the same length. The loop may be placed around an object and then used to retrieve the object from the body lumen.01-05-2012
20120004647STEERABLE SURGICAL SNARE AND METHOD OF USE - Apparatus, assemblies, systems, and methods for inserting a snare into a body and capturing objects. A snare loop having a width larger than an internal width of the body lumen may be collapsed using a loop collapsing mechanism that reduces the width of the snare loop prior to, or during, insertion of the snare loop into the body lumen.01-05-2012
20100151476PHENYLTHIOCARBAMIDE (PTC) TASTE RECEPTOR - The invention provides isolated nucleic and amino acid sequences of a taste cell receptor that serves as a sensor for the bitter taste of phenylthiocarbamide (PTC), antibodies to such PTC taste receptor, methods of detecting such nucleic and amino acid sequences, and methods of screening for modulators of such PTC taste receptor.06-17-2010
20090035754Methods and compositions for detecting steroids - The present invention provides for methods and systems for detecting steroids. Examples of such steroids include estrogen, progesterone, androgen, testosterone, and derivatives and analogs thereof. Systems useful for carrying out the method include tripartite constructs including a DNA-binding domain, a ligand binding domain, and an activation domain. The present invention provides numerous improvements over previous diagnostic systems for detection of steroids, such advantages include that the method allows for detection of steroid analogs and derivatives, whose structures may not yet be known, the method is generally applicable to a wide variety of organisms, and numerous ligand binding domains may be used in conjunction with the present system.02-05-2009
20080274909Kits and Reagents for Use in Diagnosis and Prognosis of Genomic Disorders - The invention provides articles of manufacture which are arrays, reagents, kits, and methods for diagnosis and/or prognosis of diseases with genomic aberrations. The methods of the invention identify differences between DNA samples from normal and disease tissues that are ascertained using comparative genomic hybridization (CGH) with microarrays of genomic fragments covering the whole genome of an organism, or microarrays containing subsets of the genome that are identified by the methods herein, for example, the long arm of chromosome 2 associated with prostate cancer. The detected genomic aberrations, are correlated to specific clinical outcomes, such that specific patterns of genomic aberration—disease association are identified in the majority of samples. The invention also provides genomic DNA arrays encompassing regions, the aberration of which was correlated to specific disease outcomes, for diagnosis/prognosis of such diseases.11-06-2008
20080227093PHENYLTHIOCARBAMIDE (PTC) TASTE RECEPTOR - The invention provides isolated nucleic and amino acid sequences of a taste cell receptor that serves as a sensor for the bitter taste of phenylthiocarbamide (PTC), antibodies to such PTC taste receptor, methods of detecting such nucleic and amino acid sequences, and methods of screening for modulators of such PTC taste receptor.09-18-2008
