THE LUBRIZOL CORPORTATION

THE LUBRIZOL CORPORTATION Patent applications
Patent application numberTitlePublished
20110162263CARBOXYLIC ACID DERIVATIVES AS FRICTION MODIFIERS IN FUELS - The present invention provides an additive composition and a fuel composition for use in internal combustion engines, where the compositions comprise a friction modifier which is the condensation product of (i) certain carboxylic acids and (ii) a mixture comprising a branched alcohol or branched amine having 1 to about 150 carbon atoms, or combinations thereof wherein the fuel composition improves the fuel economy of the engine in which it is used and where the fuel additive composition has improved low temperature storage stability compared to compositions containing other fatty acid-derived friction modifiers.07-07-2011
20110160108ALKALI METAL SALTS TO MINIMIZE TURBO SLUDGE - Turbo sludge formation is Improved in a turbo-charged, sump-lubricated internal combustion engine which is susceptible to contamination of lubricant with liquid fuel by providing said engine with a lubricant which contains an amount of an oil-soluble alkali metal salt effective to reduce the deterioration of said lubricant and said fuel contaminant.06-30-2011
20110120403MARINE DIESEL CYLINDER LUBRICANT - A marine diesel cylinder is lubricated using a lubricant having a total base number (TBN) of at least about 25, comprising an oil of lubricating viscosity and a metal-containing detergent component. Forty to 90 percent of the TBN derived from the metal-containing detergent component is provided by calcium detergent; 5 to 40 percent of the TBN by sodium detergent; and 5 to 45 percent by magnesium detergent. At least 50 weight percent of the total detergent substrate is sulfonate and less than 50 weight percent is monomeric or oligomeric substrate comprising one or more units of alkyl-substituted phenol having an alkyl group of 8 to 14 carbon atoms. The lubricant is useful when the marine diesel engine is fueled with a liquid fuel containing at least 2 ppm vanadium.05-26-2011
20110118157RUST INHIBITORS TO MINIMIZE TURBO SLUDGE - A turbo-charged, sump-lubricated internal combustion engine which is susceptible to contamination of lubricant with liquid fuel, may be lubricated with a lubricant which contains an amount of a rust inhibitor effective to reduce the deterioration of said lubricant and turbo sludge formation.05-19-2011
20110111997AMINIC ANTIOXIDANTS TO MINIMIZE TURBO SLUDGE - A turbo-charged, sump-lubricated internal combustion engine which is susceptible to contamination of lubricant with liquid fuel, is lubricated with a lubricant which contains an amount of an aminic antioxidant, optionally in the absence of a phenolic antioxidant, thereby reducing the deterioration of said lubricant and formation of turbo sludge.05-12-2011
