20120032435THREADED JOINT FOR TUBES, PIPES AND THE LIKE - A threaded joint comprises a coupling, a first pin, and a second pin, wherein the thread of the first pin has a pitch different from the pitch of the thread of the second pin. The extremities of the pins have slanted contact surfaces of complementary shape that make mutual contact after make-up of the joint. The slanted common plane of contact of both pins has an angle to the plane perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the joint which is greater than 0°. In an alternative embodiment the contact surfaces of the pins are split into two staggered planes and comprise a seal in-between.02-09-2012
20120018081JOINTS HAVING IMPROVED SEALABILITY, LUBRICATION AND CORROSION RESISTANCE - Embodiments of the present disclosure provide systems and methods for assembly of tubular joints which overcome the drawbacks and limitations of conventional joints. In certain embodiments, the tubular joints may comprise threaded joints used in oil exploration. Joints may be assembled using a combination of a) position control, b) specific production tolerances for thread parameters, and c) coatings applied on threaded areas of the joint. In further embodiments, the tubular joints may have no torque shoulder and/or metal to metal seals. In additional embodiments, the joints may be further assembled and disassembled several times without application of dope or grease and exhibit enhanced sealability. Beneficially, embodiments of the present disclosure may provide high tolerance, precisely assembled joints that provide improved performance (e.g., mechanical performance, sealability, corrosion resistance, lubrication) and reliability over non-premium connections without the expense associated with premium connections.01-26-2012
20110295550MEASURING DEVICE OF THREAD PARAMETERS FOR THREADED JOINTS - Thread parameters for a threaded object are determined. Spatial reference systems (X, Y, Z) and (X′, Y′, Z′) are respectively identified for a position sensor and the threaded object. A transformation matrix describing a quadratic form representing the threaded object in (X, Y, Z) may be determined to relate the reference systems. For example, a sensor trajectory on the threaded object may be determined, along with measurement points on the threaded object. The measurement points may be selected so the matrix, evaluated on these values, has maximum rank. Position data at measurement points in the second reference system may be transformed into the first reference system, yielding first results. After coating the threaded object, position data at the measurement points may be acquired again and transformed into the first reference system, yielding second results. Comparisons between the first and second results may provide thickness of the coating and quality verification.12-01-2011

20110233926THIN-WALLED PIPE JOINT AND METHOD TO COUPLE A FIRST PIPE TO A SECOND PIPE - Pipe joints and methods for connecting a first pipe to a second pipe are provided. The joint includes a first pipe and a second pipe. The first pipe includes a hollow pin member positioned at about an end of the first pipe. The second pipe includes a hollow box member positioned at about an end of the second pipe. The hollow box member is further configured to at least partially surround the pin member of the first pipe. The joint also includes a first ring placed adjacent an end of the hollow pin member and a second ring engaged with the box member. The second ring substantially axially abuts against the first ring and the first ring substantially axially abuts the box member. The second ring further generally extends from the first ring in a direction opposite to the end of the pin member adjacent to the box member.09-29-2011
20110233925THREADED JOINT WITH ELASTOMERIC SEAL FLANGE - A threaded joint has a seal flange or device in order to avoid the seepage of external pressure of fluid inside the pipe. The sealing flange has an L-shape and is interposed in a housing between a pin and a box, and the flange-like annular portion of the flange helps to verify proper positioning of the flange during make-up and contributes to increase tightness of the joint because the external fluid pressure improves adherence of the sealing flange against the contact surfaces of the joint.09-29-2011
20110133449THREADED JOINT SEALED TO INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL PRESSURES - A threaded joint for joining tubes used especially in the field of OCTG (Oil Country Tubular Goods), such as pipes in gas or oil production and/or casings when drilling wells can include a pin and a coupling, or box, having an end surface not facing against any surface of the pin when the joint is made-up. The pin can have a pin threaded portion between a first sealing surface distal of the pin threaded portion and a second sealing surface proximate to the pin threaded portion. The coupling or box can have a box threaded surface between a first sealing surface and an abutment shoulder located proximate to the box threaded surface and a second sealing surface distal of the box threaded surface. Following make-up of the joint, the first sealing surfaces of the pin and box mate to form an internal metal-to-metal seal, and the second sealing surfaces of the pin and box mate to form an external metal-to-metal seal, where the internal and external seals are defined by contact between one toroidal surface and one frusto-conical surface.06-09-2011

20100327550METHODS OF PRODUCING HIGH-STRENGTH METAL TUBULAR BARS POSSESSING IMPROVED COLD FORMABILITY - A method for producing a tubular bar, more particularly a stabilizer bar, is provided. The method comprises providing a tubular bar of desired size having an outer and inner surface, heating the bar to an elevated temperature, quenching the bar by application of a cooling fluid to the surfaces of the bar, and forming the tube to a desired shape without annealing. The method further provides for the composition of a high-strength, high formability carbon steel alloy to be used in conjunction with the method. Advantageously, the bar is formable without thermal processing subsequent to quenching. In this fashion, metal tubular bars, such as stabilizer bars, may be formed at reduced cost.12-30-2010
20100294401HIGH STRENGTH BAINITIC STEEL FOR OCTG APPLICATIONS - A high strength bainitic steel and a process for producing seamless pipes for OCTG applications are described. In particular, the advantages ensuing to the steel of the invention are the improvement in strength-toughness over tempered martensitic steels, and a simplified thermal treatment. Quenching is not necessary and by avoiding the quenching treatment the microstructure results far more homogeneous, which allows thick walled tubes to be produced. For the same steel composition, in comparison to conventional tempered martensitic structures, a better combination of strength and toughness can be achieved, in particular by tempering as rolled carbide-free bainitic structures.11-25-2010
