20120113819System and Method of Remote Testing in Loopback Mode Using MGCP/NCS - This invention relates to a system and method of monitoring, by establishing end to end loopback testing across one or more networks with dissimilar transport technologies. The system allows for connection in loopback mode from a standard interface on a test device to a media adaptor located on an IP-based access network, such as a standard multimedia terminal adapter (“MTA”). End-to-End Quality of service delivered over the transmit and receive path can thus be monitored. Loopback tests are initiated from designated endpoints on the network and made operational by attaching a tag to a telephone number, to allow the gateway to signal connection mode to a call agent. The system and method overcome certain inherent limitations of the MGCP/NCS architecture05-10-2012

20110282610DENSITY TRACE MEASUREMENT AND TRIGGERING IN FREQUENCY DOMAIN BITMAPS - A “density trace” according to an embodiment of the present invention is formed by measuring the density of each column of a frequency domain bitmap above a user-specified “amplitude threshold.” The density of each column equals the sum of the densities of all of the pixels in the column that are above the amplitude threshold divided by the sum of the densities of all of the pixels in the column. A density trace provides a convenient way to define and represent the occupancy for a large number of columns, and also allows density data to be quickly transmitted from one instrument or computer to another. In some embodiments, a density trace is incorporated into a trigger detector of a test and measurement instrument and used to generate a trigger signal. 20090122852EYE VIOLATION AND EXCESS JITTER TRIGGER - An eye violation and excess jitter trigger for a digital signal uses a mask within a unit interval of the digital signal, such as a rectangular mask having corners defined by a high threshold, a low threshold, an early clock and a late clock, the early and late clocks being derived from a reference clock. The reference clock may be a recovered clock derived from the digital signal or from high and low threshold comparator outputs, or may be an external clock. For the excess jitter trigger, which is a special case of the eye violation trigger, the high and low thresholds are essentially equal. A status of the digital signal with respect to the mask is determined using the high and low thresholds and the early and late clocks, and a violation signal is output when the status indicates that a portion of the digital signal crossed into the mask. The violation signal may then be used to trigger data acquisition or for other purposes.05-14-2009

The N lanes are then encoded into characters, the encoded N lanes having m bits per lane where m>n. Bit stuffing is used to adjust the data rate and/or to insert qualifiers. The stuffed, encoded N lanes are then multiplexed into N serial lanes, which are output from the transmitter section for input to a receiver section at a data rate that is optimal for the receiver section. 20090074030Method of Characterizing Parameters and Removing Spectral Components of a Spread Spectrum Clock in a Communications Signal - Parameters of a spread spectrum clock signal in a communication signal are characterized by acquiring voltage samples of the communication signal at a nominal time location of an edge of the communication signal. The voltage samples are converted to time samples and the difference between the maximum and minimum time values is determined at the nominal time location. A spread spectrum clock magnitude number is generated by dividing the difference between the maximum and minimum time values by the nominal time location of the acquired voltage samples of the spread spectrum clock signal. 20080228426SYNTHESIS AND GENERATION OF ARBITRARY WAVEFORMS WITH ISI COMPONENTS FOR JITTER TOLERANCE - An Arbitrary Waveform Generator has a controller programmed to generate a sequence of test waveforms using previously-defined waveform data files. The controller generates this series of test waveforms by direct synthesis to cause said each waveform to contain a respective different predetermined amount of Rj, Sj and ISI jitter components. In this way, the Arbitrary Waveform Generator produces a sequence of waveforms incorporating varying amounts of ISI to sweep said ISI jitter components from a an initial amount of ISI, for example, zero ISI, and continually increment said amount of ISI to a full unit interval of ISI in predetermined increments, for example, 0.1 UI steps.09-18-2008
20080205557Systems and Methods for Performing External Correction - A system is provided for performing external correction to reduce, or eliminate, the frequency dependent response related to an external device for receiving analog signals. The system includes an ADC and a spectrum processor for converting time-domain digital data into a spectrum. An external correction is provided between the ADC and the spectrum processor to reduce, or eliminate, the frequency dependent response associated with the external device. A corresponding method is provided that determines the frequency response of the external device, determines the gain at the center frequency, determines the normalized frequency response, constructs and inverse filter and applies the inverse filter to the digitized time-domain data and scales the results prior to any conversion, or transformation, into the frequency domain.08-28-2008
