20100300656 HEAT TRANSFER DEVICE COMBINED A FLATTEN LOOP HEAT PIPE AND A VAPOR CHAMBER - This invention declares a heat transfer device combined a flatten loop heat pipe with a vapor chamber, in which the loop heat pipe has an evaporator and a condenser, and the vapor chamber is on the evaporation part of the loop heat pipe evaporator. Metal mesh is coating on the inside surface of the vapor chamber, and coating a metal plate with vent holes on it and with supports on the both side. Working fluid is filled into the vapor chamber. Besides the advanced heat transfer characteristics of the flatten loop heat pipe, this invention has an additional advantage from the vapor chamber, which could spread the high heat flux hot spot on the chips quickly to reduce the temperature of the chips and give the chips an advantage of higher density of integration and higher running speed. Based on the combination of the loop heat pipe and the vapor chamber, changing the cooling method, using both the temperature control fins and the condenser fins, this new device could increase the temperature control accuracy and the flexibility.12-02-2010
20090016238Method for measuring the available bandwidths of a link and a network - The present invention provides a method for measuring the available bandwidth of a link and a method for measuring the available bandwidth of a network. By sending quartets in pair and measuring intervals of probe packets at the probe receiving end, the available bandwidth of any link in a network can be measured and the characteristics of load changes in a given link can be tracked and analyzed. Or, the available bandwidths of a network within given sources and destinations can be measured and the input/output bandwidth of the network or the changes in cross traffic can be found out. The present invention can be applied to trouble shooting in links and networks, capacity planning, QoS (Quality of Service) control or QoS service level agreement verification, load balancing, re-route and detection and mitigation of network attacks and in many other fields. It can also be used for measuring the available bandwidth of a path even if there is more than one link of the minimum capacity on the path or when the link of the minimum capacity is not the link of the minimum available bandwidth.01-15-2009
