20100308228 | Limiting viewing angles in nuclear imaging - Methods of nuclear imaging can include, in a pre-scan, detecting radiation emitted from a patient in a first plurality of viewing angles including at least a first viewing angle and a second viewing angle, generating nuclear data from the detected radiation, reconstructing a first nuclear event distribution from the nuclear data, selecting a region of interest, determining a first signal-to-noise ratio of the first nuclear event distribution within the region of interest, selecting a second plurality of viewing angles not including the first viewing angle, reconstructing a second nuclear event distribution from the nuclear data associated with the second plurality of viewing angles, determining a second signal-to-noise ratio of the second nuclear event distribution within the region of interest, determining that the second signal-to-noise ratio is greater than or equal to the first signal-to-noise ratio, and nuclear imaging the patient by detecting nuclear data based on a nuclear imaging process that is based on the second plurality of viewing angles. | 12-09-2010 |
20100093098 | NONFLOW-THROUGH APPRATUS AND MEHOD USING ENHANCED FLOW MECHANISMS - Methods and apparatus for facilitating the synthesis of compounds in a nonflow-through device are presented. Application of the nonflow-through methods and microfluidic devices to the synthesis of radiolabeled compounds is described. These methods and apparatus enable the introduction of a pressurized gas through a tangential slit into a vortex reactor of the nonflow-through device, while one or more liquids are delivered to the reaction chamber through the same or different inlet ports. The introduction of the pressurized gas produces a cyclonic motion of the mixture within the reactor. Such a mechanism may be used to facilitate the evaporation of various liquids within the reactor at lower temperatures, thus reducing the production of unwanted byproducts that are associated with the use of high temperatures. In addition, thorough mixing of various liquids may be effected rapidly while allowing chemical reactions to take place efficiently within the vortex reactor. | 04-15-2010 |
20080298663 | Task Specific Reconstruction of Functional Medical Scans - The invention addresses the problem of algorithm specific artefacts introduced by reconstruction of functional medical scans. After a general purpose reconstruction is performed, regions of interest are identified from the data and task specific reconstruction of the region(s) of interest is carried out. The reconstructed data can be displayed (for example) as a report or image overlay. | 12-04-2008 |
