WIRELESS MEDIA SOURCE FOR COMMUNICATION WITH DEVICES ON DATA BUS OF VEHICLE - A wireless audio source integrated into a host bus of a vehicle includes a transmitter module for wirelessly transmitting signals received from a connected portable audio player to a receiver module connected to the host bus. The host bus links to other multimedia devices, such as to the vehicle's radio and speakers, thereby enabling the audio content to be reproduced over the speakers. In one aspect, the user is able to control the volume and related functions of the audio content using the standard radio controls. In other aspects, a portable wireless transceiver is disclosed wherein an occupant of the vehicle can transmit and receive multimedia data to and from a wireless transceiver coupled to the host bus. Multimedia and other devices connected to the host bus can thereby send and receive signals to and from the portable wireless transceiver. | 05-31-2012
MOBILE DEVICE HOUSING WITH INTERCHANGEABLE BACKING - A housing for mobile devices is disclosed herein. The housing includes a shell having an interior portion displaced therein configured to fit a mobile device; a first opening through which the interior portion is accessible for inserting the mobile device; a second opening configured to be smaller than the mobile device; and a housing support displaced around the second opening. The housing also includes an insert configured to fit in and cover the second opening, the insert having a first surface facing the interior portion of the shell once the insert has been placed in the shell; and a second surface opposite to the first surface and facing the outside of the housing once the insert has been placed in the cell. A method for making the same is also disclosed. | 04-12-2012
BATTERY CLAMP - A battery clamp assembly connecting an electrical wire to a battery terminal includes a body having a clamp cavity and at least one connection socket for receiving the electrical wire, a clamp device positioned in the clamp cavity, a compression wedge positioned in the clamp cavity, and a fastening member that engages the compression wedge to couple the clamp and the compression wedge to the body. A polarity marker may be plugged into a terminal aperture provided in an access cover to permit visual identification of the terminal connection. A method of completing an electrical circuit between a component and a power source may include coupling a battery clamp assembly to the power source, connecting the electrical wire to the battery clamp assembly by securing the electrical wire into the connection using the compression screw, and tightening the fastening member which engages the compression wedge to close the clamp. | 09-08-2011
CONFIGURABLE POWER DISTRIBUTION BLOCK - A configurable distribution block assembly includes a base member, a plurality of input terminals mounted to the base assembly, a plurality of output terminals mounted to the base assembly, and an insert, wherein the insert serves as an electrical bridge between at least two of the plurality of input terminals when the distribution block assembly is configured as the distribution block and the insert prohibits an electrical bridge between each of the plurality of input terminals when the distribution block assembly is configured as the power-ground combination block. In another aspect of the invention, a power distribution system includes a power source, a primary power wire, a primary ground wire, a distribution block assembly electrically connected to the power source by the primary power wire and the primary ground wire, and a plurality of electronic components electrically connected to the distribution block assembly. | 05-19-2011
WALL CHARGER WITH REMOVABLE CHARGER - A wall charger includes a body that has at least one prong configured to be connected to an alternating current (AC) power source, a Universal Serial Bus (USB) connection port, the USB connection port being electrically connected to the at least one prong, and a docking port, and a removable charger, wherein the docking port is configured to slidably receive the movable charger, the docking port being electrically connected to the at least one prong. In another aspect of the disclosure, the removable charger comprises a second USB connection port electrically connected to the at least one prong. In yet another aspect of the disclosure, a method for charging at least one portable electronic device with the wall charger includes connecting the at least one prong to an AC power source and connecting a portable electronic device (PED) to the USB connection port. | 04-14-2011
WIRELESS HANDS-FREE AUDIO KIT FOR VEHICLE - A portable plug device for use in a vehicle is disclosed for enabling wireless transmissions from an audio source, such as an mp3 player or the like, to a head unit of a car stereo for reproduction of the audio content over speakers in the vehicle. The portable plug device includes a cord suitable for being attached to the auxiliary unit of the stereo head unit, or another location integrated in the vehicle which controls audio functions. In one configuration, the portable plug further includes a wireless transceiver for sending and receiving data and control signals to and from an audio source connected to a second wireless transceiver. The portable plug device can be used to receive control signals from the stereo equipment integrated in the vehicle so that an occupant can control features such as volume, skip track, pause and stop by using the audio controls integrated in the vehicle. In another configuration, the portable plug device includes a microphone to enable the occupant to have a telephone conversation hands free using a telephone compatible with the wireless standard implemented in the portable plug device. In still other implementations, an occupant can use the portable plug device to receive audio content, and if he or she receives an incoming call, the speakers are muted and the call is taken. After the call is taken, the occupant can resume listening to audio content from the audio source over the vehicle speakers. | 05-13-2010
