| 20110188395 | Single Sensor Radio Scene Analysis for Packet Based Radio Signals using 2nd and 4th Order Statistics - We consider a problem of radio frequency (RF) signal analysis where one sensing node observes a frequency band possibly used by multiple packet based radio transmitters. Analysis of the received signal includes two steps. In the first step we use a spectrogram to perform temporal segmentation of the received nonstationary signal. This task may be formulated as a clustering problem. In the second step we compute a certain 2-D slice of the fourth order spectrum for each of the segments found in the first step. These fourth order spectrum slices are arraigned in a three-way array. One aspect of the second step is to use uniqueness properties of the low rank decomposition of the three-way array to recover spectra and associated activity sequences of individual components in the received signal. We derive a numerical algorithm for the low rank decomposition, which computes estimates of the spectra and activity sequences by optimizing certain weighted least squares criterion under application specific constraints. Certain embodiments are illustrated with simulation examples involving signals used in 802.11a/b/g and Bluetooth networks. The disclosed methods and related systems can be used as spectrum analysis tools, providing crucial information needed for achieving efficient utilization of radio spectrum and elimination of mutual interference between the coexisting systems. | 08-04-2011 |

| 20100102825 | Spectral and information theoretic method of test point, partial-scan, and full-scan flip-flop insertion to improve integrated circuit testability - Design for testability (DFT) algorithms, which use both gradient descent and linear programming (LP) algorithms to insert test points (TPs) and/or scanned flip-flops (SFFs) into large circuits to make them testable are described. Scanning of either all flip-flops or a subset of flip-flops is supported. The algorithms measure testability using probabilities computed from logic simulation, Shannon's entropy measure (from information theory), and spectral analysis of the circuit in the frequency domain. The DFT hardware inserter methods uses toggling rates of the flip-flops (analyzed using digital signal processing (DSP) methods) and Shannon entropy measures of flip-flops to select flip-flops for scan. The optimal insertion of the DFT hardware reduces the amount of DFT hardware, since the gradient descent and linear program optimizations trade off inserting a TP versus inserting an SFF. The linear programs find the optimal solution to the optimization, and the entropy measures are used to maximize information flow through the circuit-under-test (CUT). The methods limit the amount of additional circuit hardware for test points and scan flip-flops. | 04-29-2010 |

| 20080289418 | ANGULAR VELOCITY SENSOR - An angular velocity sensor includes a protrusion protruding in a Y′-axis direction and extending in an X-axis direction on a main surface of a rotated Y cut quartz plate, and an excitation electrode and a detection electrode formed on the main surface adjacent to this protrusion. This excitation electrode excites thickness-shear vibration in the X-axis direction on the quartz substrate, exiting vibration on the protrusion. Then, the protrusion is bent and displaced due to Coriolis force acting in a direction orthogonal to the vibration of the protrusion corresponding to a rotation around an Y′ axis. This displacement at the protrusion is applied to the quartz substrate as stress. The detection electrode detects change of this stress, thereby angular speed added to the angular velocity sensor is detected. | 11-27-2008 |
