20120073240REINFORCED MULL POST ASSEMBLY - A composite reinforced mull post is disclosed for use in an entryway assembly. The mull post may engage a door on one side and a side light window on the other side. The mull post may comprise a one or two piece outer portion and one or more internal reinforcing members. The outer portion may comprise a plurality of interlocking pieces. The pieces may include a stop portion and a support portion, each with interlocking ribs. A first internal reinforcing member may be formed of engineered material such as a wood laminate, and a second reinforcing member may comprise a channel that extends partially around the first reinforcing member. The reinforcing member may include orthogonal portions conterminously received within a correspondingly shaped central chamber formed by the housing formed by the joined interlocking pieces.03-29-2012
20100281805FIRE RESISTANT COMPOSITE DOOR ASSEMBLY - A fire resistant door assembly is disclosed comprising a pair of horizontal rails, a pair of vertical stiles, first and second door skins, and a foam core. The first and second door skins are made from a molded fiberglass material that includes aluminum trihydroxide, which provides a degree of ultraviolet light resistance as well as fire resistance. The foam core is made from a polyurethane foam qualified to ASTM E84, Class I, while the stiles and rails are made from a polyvinylchloride material. The resulting door assembly is made from 100% composite material, provide a high degree of durability, while resulting in a door that maintains its structural integrity and resistance to smoke and fire in accordance with state and local building codes.11-11-2010
20100192489REINFORCED MULL POST ASSEMBLY - A composite reinforced mull post is disclosed or use in an exterior building entryway assembly, engaging a door on one side and a side light window on the other side. The mull post may comprise a polymer profile portion and first and second reinforcing members. The profile portion comprises a layer of polyvinyl chloride with a hollow center. The first reinforcing member comprises an engineered material such as a wood laminate, and the second reinforcing member comprises a U-shaped steel channel that fits around one end of the first reinforcing member. The reinforcing members are received within the hollow center of the polymer profile portion and run the entire length of the mull post to provide substantial rigidity to the assembly. A polymer cap layer may be co-extruded on the outer surface of the polymer profile portion to provide the mull post with a desired finished surface appearance and/or color.08-05-2010
20100180526TRIMMABLE COMPOSITE DOOR - A trimmable door is disclosed comprising a pair of horizontal rails, a pair of vertical stiles, first and second door skins, and a foam core. The first and second stiles are made from a composite material that is easily trimmed to enable the door to be custom fit to the unique shape and dimensions of a particular door frame opening, such as is common in the renovation market. The first and second rails also may be made from a trimmable composite material. To provide an additional measure of adjustability, the first and second door skins may also be trimmable. The first and second door skins may be compression molded and have a texture and grain approaching that of wood. The foam core may be a foamed-in-place polyurethane material. The composite material used to form the first and second stiles may be a co-extrusion material of polymer and wood flour.07-22-2010
