20110273338ANTENNA HAVING PLANAR CONDUCTING ELEMENTS AND AT LEAST ONE SPACE-SAVING FEATURE - An antenna includes a dielectric material having i) a first side opposite a second side, and ii) a conductive via therein. A first planar conducting element is on the first side of the dielectric material and has an electrical connection to the conductive via. A second planar conducting element is also on the first side of the dielectric material. A gap electrically isolates the first and second planar conducting elements from each other. An electrical microstrip feed line on the second side of the dielectric material electrically connects to the conductive via and has a route that extends from the conductive via, to across the gap, to under the second planar conducting element. A positionable flexible conductor is electrically connected to the second planar conducting element and extends from the second planar conducting element, or a portion of one of the conducting elements traverses a meander path.11-10-2011
20110273337ANTENNA HAVING PLANAR CONDUCTING ELEMENTS, ONE OF WHICH HAS A PLURALITY OF ELECTROMAGNETIC RADIATORS AND AN OPEN SLOT - An antenna includes a dielectric material having i) a first side opposite a second side, and ii) a conductive via therein. The first planar conducting element has a plurality of electromagnetic radiators, each having dimensions that cause it to resonate over a range of frequencies that differs from a range of frequencies over which an adjacent radiator resonates. At least first and second of the radiators bound an open slot in the first planar conducting element.11-10-2011

At least first and second of the radiators bound an open slot in the first planar conducting element. The open slot has an orientation perpendicular to the gap.11-10-2011
20110241944ANTENNA HAVING PLANAR CONDUCTING ELEMENTS, ONE OF WHICH HAS A SLOT - An antenna includes a dielectric material having i) a first side opposite a second side, and ii) a conductive via therein. A first planar conducting element is on the first side of the dielectric material and has i) at least one closed slot therein, and ii) an electrical connection to the conductive via. A second planar conducting element is on the first side of the dielectric material. Each of the first and second planar conducting elements is positioned adjacent a gap that electrically isolates the first planar conducting element from the second planar conducting element. An electrical microstrip feed line is on the second side of the dielectric material, is electrically connected to the conductive via, and has a route extending from the conductive via, to across the gap, to under the second planar conducting element. The second planar conducting element provides a reference plane for the electrical microstrip feed line.10-06-2011
20100134369HIGH GAIN STEERABLE PHASED-ARRAY ANTENNA - A high gain, phased array antenna includes a conducting sheet having a number of one or more slots defined therein. For each slot, an electrical microstrip feed line is electronically coupled with a corresponding slot to form a magnetically-coupled LC resonance element. A main feed line couples with the one or more microstrip feed lines. At least one slot and/or microstrip feed line includes at least one segment with greater width than other segments.06-03-2010
20100085262SLOT ANTENNAS, INCLUDING MEANDER SLOT ANTENNAS, AND USE OF SAME IN CURRENT FED AND PHASED ARRAY CONFIGURATION - In one embodiment, a meander slot antenna includes a conducting sheet having a meander slot defined therein. The meander slot has a closed area defined by the conducting sheet. An electrical microstrip feed line crosses the meander slot. The electrical microstrip feed line and meander slot provide a magnetically coupled LC resonance element. A dielectric material has at least one conductive via therein. The at least one conductive via electrically connects the electrical microstrip feed line and the conducting sheet at a side of the meander slot. The dielectric material otherwise separates the conducting sheet from the electrical microstrip feed line. Other embodiments are also disclosed.04-08-2010
20090273533High Gain Steerable Phased-Array Antenna with Selectable Characteristics - A high gain, phased array antenna includes a conducting sheet having a number of one or more slots defined therein. For each slot, an electrical microstrip feed line is electronically coupled with a corresponding slot to form a magnetically-coupled LC resonance element. A main feed line couples with the one or more microstrip feed lines. A specific azimuth pattern, antenna frequency, and/or beam direction is/are selectable in accordance with specific structural or electrical characteristics of the antenna.11-05-2009
