20120021172Foil-Backed Wallboard and Insulation System - An insulated exterior wall assembly combining insulating material and reflective surface insulation coupled with an air gap. A wall assembly according to this invention includes wall support studs defining insulation cavities between them, sheathing boards facing the building exterior, an insulating material such as cellular plastic material or fibrous insulation applied from the exterior sheathing partly through the depth of the insulation cavities, a foil-backed gypsum-containing wallboard applied to the interior facing portions of the studs, with an air gap between the foil backing of the wallboards and the surface of the foam along the depth of the studs. The wall assembly according to this invention provides comparable thermal resistance compared to a deep layer of insulating material.01-26-2012
20110293916Gypsum Wallboard and Method of Making Same - A coalescing additive is used in the manufacturing process for gypsum wallboard. Such an additive increases the surface area and density of the slurry at the paper to core interface by coalescing the foam cells away from the paper core interface. This permits a stronger paper to core bond to form and increases the compressive strength of the gypsum wallboard as compared to standard wallboards made from slurries with reduced water levels.12-01-2011

20090053544METHOD OF STARCH REDUCTION IN WALLBOARD MANUFACTURING AND PRODUCTS MADE THEREFROM - A gypsum composition for use as a wallboard core contains stucco, water, a styrene acrylic or acrylic hybrid copolymer, and a reduced amount of starch. A finished wallboard using this composition has similar properties, including compressive strength and paper core bond strength of a finished board, to wallboards made from compositions having higher quantities of starch. A method for producing such a composition is shown, the method requiring mixing of stucco and pulp water in a pin mixer, with the addition of starch and the styrene acrylic or acrylic hybrid copolymer.02-26-2009
20090010093Method of Adding STMP to a Gypsum Slurry - The disclosure relates to a method for effectively and efficiently adding sodium trimetaphosphate to a gypsum slurry. In one exemplary embodiment, the sodium trimetaphosphate is added at the same time as foam is added to the gypsum slurry through the foam waterline. In another exemplary embodiment, the sodium trimetaphosphate is added at the same time as additional water is added to the gypsum slurry through the gauging waterline. The sodium trimetaphosphate can be added to either or both waterlines in its dry form or in a diluted solution.01-08-2009
