One method of facilitating the data communication includes, at the mobile router, determining the availability of one or more access bearers from a group thereof, each access bearer providing an access gateway to a communication network. The mobile router then automatically selects at least one available access bearer based upon a prioritized list containing two or more access bearers, the prioritized list indicating an order of preference.
