20090210487CLIENT-SERVER VISUALIZATION SYSTEM WITH HYBRID DATA PROCESSING - The invention comprises a system of client-server visualization with hybrid data processing, having a server digital data processor, that allows for server side rendering and processing image data, and client digital data processors simultaneously connected to the server, which receives messages from the clients, creates rendered images of data sets or other data processing results and sends those rendered images and results to the clients for display or further processing. Performing certain image rendering operations on either the server or the client according to which is better suited for the tasks requested by the user at any point in time, and possibly adjusting this division of work dynamically, improves rendering speed and application responsiveness on the clients.08-20-2009
20090208082AUTOMATIC IMAGE SEGMENTATION METHODS AND APPARATUS - The invention provides methods and apparatus for image processing that perform image segmentation on data sets in two- and/or three-dimensions so as to resolve structures that have the same or similar grey values (and that would otherwise render with the same or similar intensity values) and that, thereby, facilitate visualization and processing of those data sets.08-20-2009
20090201303MULTI-USER MULTI-GPU RENDER SERVER APPARATUS AND METHODS - The invention provides, in some aspects, a system for rendering images, the system having one or more client digital data processors and a server digital data processor in communications coupling with the one or more client digital data processors, the server digital data processor having one or more graphics processing units. The system additionally comprises a render server module executing on the server digital data processor and in communications coupling with the graphics processing units, where the render server module issues a command in response to a request from a first client digital data processor. The graphics processing units on the server digital data processor simultaneously process image data in response to interleaved commands from (i) the render server module on behalf of the first client digital data processor, and (ii) one or more requests from (a) the render server module on behalf of any of the other client digital data processors, and (b) other functionality on the server digital data processor.08-13-2009
20090063658FAST FILE SERVER METHODS AND SYSTEMS - The invention provides, in one aspect, an improved system for data access comprising a file server that is coupled to a client device or application executing thereon via one or more networks. The server comprises static storage that is organized in one or more directories, each containing, zero, one or more files. The server also comprises a file system operable, in cooperation with a file system on the client device, to provide authorized applications executing on the client device access to those directories and/or files. Fast file server (FFS) software or other functionality executing on or in connection with the server responds to requests received from the client by transferring requested data to the client device over multiple network pathways. That data can comprise, for example, directory trees, files (or portions thereof), and so forth.03-05-2009
20090040070REAL-TIME, THREE-DIMENSIONAL SYNTHETIC VISION DISPLAY OF SENSOR-VALIDATED TERRAIN DATA - A terrain database that is rendered in three-dimensional perspective on a Synthetic Vision display in a moving vehicle is updated in real-time in response to data from a ranging sensor. The updated database may be stored and shared with users of displays in other vehicles.02-12-2009
20080304738METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR IMAGE COMPRESSION AND DECOMPRESSION USING GRAPHICS PROCESSING UNIT (GPU) - The invention provides, in some aspects, methods for image compression that utilize the central processing unit (CPU) of a digital data processor and its associated graphics processing unit (GPU), together, in order to compress an image. In related aspects of the invention, the GPU is adapted to render at least a portion of an image to an associated texture buffer (i.e., a texture buffer of the GPU) and to transform the resulting image values in that texture buffer to a frequency-based representation. The GPU can, further, order coefficients comprising that frequency-based representation and transfer at least a portion of those coefficients to the associated CPU. That CPU can, in turn, effect transfer of the downloaded coefficients to another digital data processor (or image processing apparatus). Still other aspects of the invention provide methods of image decompression that utilize the central processing unit (CPU) of a digital data processor and its associated graphics processing unit (GPU), together, in order to decompress an image. These methods parallel the compression methods discussed above, albeit in substantially reversed order. Other aspects of the invention provide digital data processing apparatus for image compression, decompression and/or remote image display operating in accord with the methods described above.12-11-2008
20080280463Rugged Chip Packaging - Improved printed circuit boards (PCBs), printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) and methods thereof contemplate PCBs with recesses incorporated into planar surfaces thereof adapted to receive respective elongate leads of circuit components. The recesses are sized so as to prevent distal ends of the leads from emerging through the far sides of the boards and, indeed, allow for positioning of the component flush with, or offset above, the board to which they are mounted.11-13-2008
20080215204METHODS, APPARATUS AND SYSTEMS FOR ENHANCED SYNTHETIC VISION AND MULTI-SENSOR DATA FUSION TO IMPROVE OPERATIONAL CAPABILITIES OF UNMANNED AERIAL VEHICLES - The invention provides, in some aspects, improved methods, apparatus and systems for unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) operation that utilize multiple data links between a UAV and a control station in order to transmit control and actionable intelligence data. Such methods, apparatus and systems can be used, for example, to monitor a selected environment (e.g., an oil field or other terrain/environment of interest). In a related aspect, such data links comprise satellite communication channels.09-04-2008
