20090159134Water Manifold System And Method - A system for distributing water within a building operates to distribute water from a pressurized water supply source to devices that receive water, such as faucets, toilets, showers, sprinklers, and hot water heating devices. The system includes at least one manifold which may be of unitary molded plastic construction and comprised of chlorinated polyvinyl chloride (CPVC). The manifold includes an entry port and a plurality of outlet ports which are also referred to as sockets. The sockets are configured to receive fitting inserts of various types that include water line connectors. The sockets are also configured to accept standard plastic water conduits therein in cemented relation. The water line connectors may include metallic connectors such as barbed fittings, which can be used to connect the manifold and crosslinked polyethylene (PEX) pipe in nonthreaded relation. Manifolds may be connected together to provide suitable distribution arrangements.06-25-2009
20090143533Transparent Thermoplastic Blend Of A Cycloolefin Copolymer And A Thermoplastic Polyurethane - A blend of a cycloolefin copolymer and a thermoplastic urethane having similar indices of refraction is transparent. The cycloolefin copolymer is derived from norbornene and other monomers such that it has a processing range compatible with the thermoplastic urethane. The urethane component preferably has a polyether intermediate. A thermoplastic urethane compatibilizing agent is utilized desirably having a hydrocarbon intermediate portion. The compositions can be made to have desirable electrical dissipative properties for static control applications.06-04-2009
20090139661PVC/CPVC Composite Pipe With Metal Interlayer And Process For Making It - A composite pipe has a metal conduit sandwiched between inner and outer conduits of PVC/CPVC, each of which are adhesively secured to the interlaying metal conduit with a dried, solvent-free thin layer of a thermosetting bilayer adhesive which provides a bond with the metal, which bond fails in cohesive failure. Narrowly defined limits on the thickness of each conduit are found to provide a bendable composite pipe with an aluminum interlayer; and to provide a rigid non-bendable composite pipe with a steel interlayer. Making the composite pipe which meets required ASTM and NSF test considerations requires unexpectedly critical process steps. A process for making the pipe is disclosed, as are PVC/CPVC fittings which allow lengths of pipe to be solvent-cemented in them so as to seal the terminal ends of the pipe against infusion of fluid under pressure in the pipe, thus preventing delaminaton.06-04-2009
20090137734Aqueous Dispersions Of Polyurethane/Acrylic Hybrid Compositions - An aqueous dispersion of polyurethane/acrylic polymer hybrid composites is made by forming a mixture of urethane prepolymer or polymer, acrylic monomer or polymer, ketone functional molecule/oligomers, and hydrazine functional molecule/oligomers; and dispersing the mixture so made in aqueous medium.05-28-2009
20090110858CPVC Pipe With 25% Higher Hydrostatic Design Basis Than Required Under ASTM D2846 - CPVC pipe in diameters in the range from 15 mm (0.5 inch) to 15.24 cm (6 ins), to carry hot and cold aqueous streams under 690 KPa (100 psi) pressure and 82.2° C. (180° F.) in continuous service, is extruded from a compound in which the CPVC has a high Cl content in the range from 66.5%-70%, when modified with either of two specific impact high rubber modifiers in an amount greater than 5 parts but no more than 6 parts per 100 parts of CPVC. Extruded CPVC pipe provides a HDB measured according to ASTM D2837-01 which is 25% or more greater than that required for commercial pipe as specified in ASTM D2846. As a result, both SDR-11 and SDR-13.5 pipe are produced which provide a HDB of at least 1250 psi (8.62 MPa) at the 100,000 hr intercept.04-30-2009
20090100723Soft, Elastic, Plasticizer-Free Thermoplastic Polyurethane And Process To Synthesize The Same - The present invention discloses a thermoplastic polyurethane which is comprised of the reaction product of (1) a hydroxyl terminated intermediate, (2) a polyisocyanate, and (3) a glycol chain extender selected from the group consisting of ethylene glycol and propylene glycol; wherein the hydroxyl terminated intermediate is selected from the group consisting of hydroxyl terminated polyether intermediates and hydroxyl terminated polyester intermediates; wherein the hydroxyl terminated intermediate is comprised of repeat units that are derived from a branched glycol or is comprised of at least 2 different repeating units; wherein the thermoplastic polyurethane has a weight average molecular weight of at least 100,000 Daltons; wherein the thermoplastic polyurethane includes hard segments that are the reaction product of the polyisocyanate and the glycol chain extender; and wherein the hard segments represent from 10 to 40 weight percent of the total weight of the thermoplastic polyurethane.04-23-2009
