The transformation can be performed in the field. The RFID-enabled cabinet is fitted with a controller, communication means, one or more RFID readers, one or more antennae for reading RFID tags, and a multiplexer connecting the RFID reader and the antennae. Each antenna comprises a switch for activating and deactivating the antenna and a tuning board. No more than one antenna is activated at a given time thus avoiding interference between the different antennae.
